How to Blur in and out

New Here ,
Apr 29, 2018 Apr 29, 2018

Hi guys, I have start using Pr Pro CC 2018 and i wanted to blur out some object (number) from my video. The number appear from 00:00:27:15 - 00:00:43:54 seconds, so i add the Gaussian Blur from the affect and using the polygon mask i blur out the area, my problem is that when i add the keyframe at  00:00:27:15 (that when the number begins to appear) by clicking the stopwatch from Bluriness (Blurinss is at level 20) the number was blured out, and since the need the blur till 00:00:43:54 seconds i add another keyframe at 00:00:43:54. But when i play (drag) the video the blur automatically fade and by 00:00:39:11 seconds all the number was visible again. I just want the blur effect to be remove at 00:00:43:54 seconds instead of fading out. So is there any method to do this or any other suggestion. Its been days now and i can get it right.

You could cut the track either end of the section and add the blur just to that bit.

If I got you right :

01. on 00:00:27:15 start the first keyframe and set blur to 0

02. on 00:00:28:15 set the blurriness to 20 (a keyframe will be set automatically)

03. on 00:00:42:54 select your second keyframe, copy and paste it there

04. on 00:00:43:54 set the blurriness to 0 (a keyframe will be automatically set)

for steps 01 and 03 you can set your keyframes on whatever timecode you would like, depending

on the speed of your blur to take place, i suggested 1 second

Thanks for the reply. But During that steps 03 and 04 the number was still visible, it's only a second but if you pause it it's still visible.

There is a 5 millisecond (during 00:00:43:55 - 00:00:43:59) where the number disappear so for now i put two keyframe both with blurriness 20 at 00:00:43:52 and 00:00:43:54 and one keyframe with blurriness 0 at 00:00:43:59 and i think it works for now. If there any other easy ways i'm still open for any suggestion .

i didn't get what you want at first, so you need the blurriness to just cut out at 00:00:43:54

move the keyframe of step 03 to 00:00:43:53 or just select the last keyframe, right click on it

and go to keyframe interpolation and set it to hold

so just add 2 keyframes as you did at first, the only thing you were missing was to select both of

your keyframes and right click on them, then choose hold from keyframe interpolation

Richard's suggestion is the fastest and easiest way to do this,

forget about all keyframes if you have simple editing

Thanks guys, i have to stick with Ricards's suggestion since the number disappear and reappear again, i still can figure out that keyframe interpolation hold thing , when i try it the blur still fade (maybe i'm missing something). But at last i can finally make it work, have to cut and add 6 mask, still don't know how to begin the blur as they all appear from the beginning of the clip so i have to move around the blur in the open area where they will not be visible and reappear at the exact time. Phew, it was time consuming but it works. Since this is my first time editing thanks for the helpful tips, and i'm still open for more suggestion.
