How to change color of program monitor work area in Premiere Pro?

Community Beginner ,
Jan 30, 2025 Jan 30, 2025

Hi everyone!

I'm new to Premiere Pro.

I am working with a black colored image. As the color of the program monitor window is also dark/black, I'm not able to see where my image starts and ends.

How do I change the color of the program monitor window from dark/black to white or grey? (I'm not talking about the color of the image that I'm working with.)

Thank you.

Go under the wrench menu and turn on the Transparency Grid as that offers a different background.

Hi there,

If you're on a recent version of Premiere Pro, you can change the color theme to a lighter color by going to Edit > Preferences > Appearance (Premiere Pro > Settings > Appearance in macOS). Here's an article for more details: https://adobe.ly/40S6HtK.

Thanks,

Ishan

You can put a colored matte on a video track below the other video tracks.  Then turn off its visibility before exporting.

You can also use the transparency grid:
