How to Crop video in Export Window?

Explorer ,
May 23, 2022 May 23, 2022

In the old versions and a few updates prior, there used to be 2 tabs in the top left corner of the export window, which had "Source" and "Output". Under the "source" tab, you had a crop icon that used to let you crop the who video to a custom size. For example, if your main video is 1920x1080, there you could export in 1000x900 if you wished. This new size cut out portions of the video frame and the new output video would look like a video that has its frame cut out, not the video becoming smaller in size. This cropping method literally cut the frame. In the new update, I can't find this option. Has it been removed or moved somewhere?

I believe that this has been removed in this version (hopefully temporarily) you may want to try doing this in Media Encoder.

Thanks for the suggestion! I was very confused as to where it went. This feature makes it so easy to just crop out the sides for a 1:1 ratio vid for Instagram.

I don't see where Media Encoder has that functionality. Can you point to a tutorial?

This is a feature I used in Premiere Pro all of the time--super simple to do an extracted output on export. I really hope that Adobe builds this back in or it will force me to buy a different piece of editing software and Creative Cloud becomes less valuable.

@bryanmyrick_007  in the export window, click on "Send to Media Encoder", that'll open the media encoder app and from there you'll get that familiar export window that was in premiere pro. I get what you mean, this could very well be a way to force users to buy media encoder.

Send your timeline to AME and use the old fashioned export settings.

That was a great feature that no other NLE had. It is one reason why I used Premiere Pro instead of the other NLE. Adobe is making Premiere Pro worse and worse. Instead of making the transitions GPU accelerated Adobe tried to fix something that isn't broke.

Ann, start watching the video below at about 1:50. I think you would agree it is a much  needed feature considering Premiere Pro cannot make use of odd aspect ratios when using 3rd party hardware. This way I can create banners for website that are 1280 X 240 or even 1080 X 280. I used to be able to create any aspect ratio I want by cropping and I used to be able to export any aspect ratio I wanted by cropping.
