How to feather specific edges? (Not all edges?)

Hello, I am working in Premiere pro and have a rectangular clip on top of a background layer. I would like to add a feather effect to just the left and right edges of the rectangular top clip, but unfortunately the "feather effect" applies this to all the edges... Is there anyway to just feather the left and right edges ? Thanks!

You could also use the linear wipe effect on the edge you want feathered.

Duplicate the clip on a video track above the clip.

Apply the feather effect.

Use an opacity mask to show only the edges you want feathered.

Ah perfect. Linear wipe effect worked great. Thank you so much for the tip!
