So, I'm using the latest version of Premiere (CC 2017.1.2 v11) and I've managed to save a Legacy Title Style. However, I can't figure out how to make a style the default style, so that when I create a new title I don't have to constantly select the style/font I want to use. Anyone know how to do this?
May not be the exact answer that you're looking for but when you have the font look that you like you can do a right click in the dark gray area by the title styles. You can save that font look. It will be there permanently and you can click on that "look" when you need it.
I don't believe that you can have it automatically default to a specific style (unfortunately.)

Damn. Well, thank you. Yeah, the second part to that answer is what I was looking for, if I can't have it automatically default to a style anymore that's a real bummer. 😕
