How to snap to guides with cropping?

Community Beginner ,

I am doing a mosaic type video and would like to crop dozens of videos to the same size. Currently the only way to do this it seems is to set up guides, then crop the video using the mouse and nudge to fit within the guides. I see inklings that there used to be a "snap to guides" feature but I don't see it anywhere and "snap to program monitor" doesn't work. All I want is to be able to drag the crop and have it snap to the guides. It seems like something that should be obvious or intuitive, but perhaps I've just missed something. If there is such a feature, I would be most grateful for help in setting it up. Thanks a lot!

If I am using guides, toggling on Snap in Program Monitor works for me:

Thanks for replying! You're moving around using positioning. That works for me too. What I want is to be able to use the crop tool and have that snap to the guides.

Crop Tool?

Do you mean the Crop Effect or do you mean the Opacity Mask?

What you want to do is fairly easy in After Effects, not so easy in Premiere.

One way to do it is to create a high contrast Shape (black background, white fill) and use it as a Track Matte Effect matte source, applied to each of your video fill tracks.

This will involve nesting tracks etc. and is cumbersome, but will make for a consistent crop on all your tracks.

Another way to do it is to create a sequence that is the pixel dimensions of the crop you want. Place the source track in that sequence and scale/position it to fit the full frame of that sequence. Once you have done that, drop that sequence into your timeline where you are assembling the layers.

Any effect can be saved as a preset. Set the crop effect as you want, then right-click on it, Save as Preset. Give it a name and description so you know exactly what it does. Save one for each setup you need.

And save them to an effects bin you create and name for this, so you know exactly where to find them, can open that bin, and have fast access.

BTW, double-clicking an effect in the Effects panel will apply that effect to any/all clips that are selected in a timeline panel.

Double clicking does not apply to presets in the effects panel.
