I get "not responding" message when switching workspaces

When I switch workstations from "editing" to "graphics" I can't type or change titles. I get the dreaded "not resonding" message. It recovers but can't make changes in titler. Also becomes very sluggish when I try to add effects in effects panel. Sluggish when in editing mode and trying to move clips, etc. Just sluggish (a 60 min project) I updated my video driver but that didn't work. Latest PP update installed. I'm on Windows 10 with a Intel 7 Gen core. NVidia GTX1060 card. 16gb RAM. Any suggestions?

[Title edited to fix typo: workspaces, not workstations. — Mod.]

I would try cleaning your media cache. Go to Premiere Pro (Mac) or Edit (Windows) /Preferences/Media Cache then click Unused. Save and close Premiere then re-start Premiere. Hopefully this will help. If not you could also try re-setting preferences by trying these options.

Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while launching Premiere Pro. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears.

To reset preferences and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting. Release the Shift-Alt keys or Shift-Option key when the splash screen appears.

HI RobShultz, I tried both of your suggestions but neither seems to correct the sluggishness. I recently moved my rendered files (PRV) from an internal drive to an external hard drive because I was running out of space. Could that be a culprit? Any other suggestion would be appreciated and thanks for answering

That could help. Also things overall run better if your main drive has plenty of free space.

On a side note, you're switching work spaces.  Switching work stations means using a different computer.
