Importing New Files Into a Bin that is Already Imported

Is there a way to import media that's in a folder that is already imported without just dragging it into place or using the import dialogue?

I'd love it if there were a keyboard shortcut to update my imported folders to add media that is now in the folders that wasn't previously in there during the previous import.

I oftentimes add files into a project and have a file structure implemented physically on my computer. I start a project and do an initial import with the media that I currently have (which includes the all important file structure) As I continue the project, I need a pieces of media here and there, so I create it and save it on my computer in the folder that I want it to show up in. But then I have to drag and drop that specific file into premiere into the place that I want it to go. This makes me organize it twice and I would love a keyboard shortcut or simply a menu item that would automatically update the bins in Premiere to include the files that are in Finder.

Does this already exist by any chance?

Thanks

Nope. And would be a great addition.

Go to the UserVoice system as listed on the Overview page and post this. Then come back here and post the link. I'll be happy to "up-vote" it.

I think it would need a toggle on/off as I know some editors would be horrified at having changes made in PrPro they haven't specifically made themselves.

I gave it my vote as well. It could be a really useful feature that i would use a lot since i organize all media in different folder on the HDD and then use the Import Folder feature in the Import dialog. Add more media to the folder > Update the bin=the added media gets imported.

But then I have to drag and drop that specific file into premiere into the place that I want it to go. This makes me organize it twice and I would love a keyboard shortcut or simply a menu item that would automatically update the bins in Premiere to include the files that are in Finder.

What you can do is to select the bin you want to import the asset to and then press Cmd+I to open the Import dialog and then select the asset/assets you want to import and click OK. So if the bin is named Audio and you import a file named Music.aif that file will end up in the bin named Audio.

No need to drag and drop and it can all be done with the keyboard. Not exactly what you want, but selecting the bin prior to importing media is the key. Not as beautiful as automatically updating bins, but it gets the job done with keyboard shortcuts and is a huge time saver and i use it all the time.

Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to open/close bins and to navigate up/down in the Project panel. I use the List View in the Project panel.
