Is There an Automated Way to Use the Clip Name Instead of the Sequence Name As the Default File Name for the Exported Clip in the Export Module?
Right now, my approach is cumbersome in that I right-click the clip/click rename/copy highlighted clip name/escape then go to the Export Module and rename the default file name which is always the sequence name.
My hope is that there's a whole lot easier way to do this when I have a multitude of clips to individually export!
Thanks in advance!
Hi Stephan,
I went ahead and followed your lead and purchased the plug-in, "Clips Exporter." The cost is only $25 so I gambled that it might work for what my precise needs of exporting a multitude of clips with the clip name being used for the exported file name.
(There are some complicated ways of doing this directly in Premiere Pro but none of them seem to even give you any of your edits – which, for me, makes those approaches pretty much useless.)
This particular plug-in, Clips Exporter, does

If you select clips in a bin, then select export, they will go to Me, and will all be named for their original clip name. You will not get any effects applied to the timeline.
You can also try to select clips on a timeline, "Render & Replace" with the format/codec set to your export choice, and check "include effects" which gets all timeline effects included. Then copy those clips. And then you can select the timeline again, 'restore unrendered', to get back to the original media.

One of the key points I apparently did not make clear is that these clips are not imported as standalone clips – but instead are derived from a very long, 90-minute sequence from an old videotape of our son's birth, etc. with many different scenes that each require their own color correction and other effects – which is the purpose of the project.
Hence, there is nothing to take directly to media encoder.

I forgot to add, Neil, that I genuinely appreciate your suggestions… your idea about render and replace would work albeit tediously.
The problem is that I am individually exporting these clips so they can be watched based on their specific life event such as birthdays, etc.
It is also to see if I chose wisely when I did the color correction and other effects with the expectation that I'll go back into Premiere and tweak each clip toward perfection – which means having to render and replace each time for each clip.

Why are you exporting individual clips using Premiere? you can streamline that by using Media encoder instead

I"ve not tried exporting clips individually from Me for a while. Do you have the option to export with effects applied? I don't recall.

Neil, yes, you have the full range of effects applied on your clip when you export to ME.

Well then in that case the easiest workaround is to right-click on the file and select "create sequence from clip" (you can set a shortcut for that), this way your sequences are already named after the clip itself and when exporting it will be named this way

Hi, previously I search for easy way to export multiple clips with substituted audio(audios was with different length than videos). Like you, I copy file name, click export and paste name. It was slow process. I test and buy 2 plugins: "clips exporter" and "Aftercodecs". They're not free, but i suggest to check them.
For me the price is worth, especially how much time and effort you can save.
Finally I use only "clips exporter".

Thanks, Stefan… I watched the overview video of Clips Exporter and it looks interesting and may very well be worth the $25 price tag. I did notice that it looks like the plug-in does solve the automatic "name of clip" for the file name.
I have to say this is not an unusual request that you and I have and am surprised that Premiere does not have this kind of functionality already built in.
If I don't get another posting showing me a built-in way to do this, I will probably go with your suggestion! You are appreciated!

This particular plug-in, Clips Exporter, does everything I need or will probably need in the future. All exported files have all of the edits and have the exported file name the same as the clip name – which is what I wanted. It lets you choose an abundance of other names also. Last night, I exported 47 clips from a long sequence, and it appears to work fast and flawlessly.
My only complaint is the UI which could be greatly improved. I had to spend 45 minutes meandering around the software, with zero user guides, to figure out multiple issues that were not covered in their instructional videos.
Nevertheless, this $25 plug will save me a massive number of hours in the future which makes the cost per saved hour negligibly close to zero!

Thanks for posting back about this! The tools always seem to need "helper" apps/utiilities, and hearing this is great!

You are right...I used for so long and I forget what it was in the beginning to set all.
But now I like the clean design, all possible settings that it has and most important that you can use all standart Premiere exports(container and codecs) and export directly from Premiere or Media Encoder. One inconvenience is, that you must make presets and put in plugin folder, but for me most important is final result(quality) and how much time and effort I save.

Good info ... thanks for posting!
Not being able to export properly named clips from a timeline with applied effects has been a huge PITA for a lot of Premiere users. I've complained about this over and over ... but at least, for a slight fee, you can just get to work.
