I just worked with an editor who uses FCPX and I use Premiere 2018. He created an fcpxml file, and converted that into an XML file using Davinci Resolve (since Premiere can't import fcpxml, only XML).
Once I import it, the new bin only contains one of the clips used in the edit. In the sequence, the edit is there with all the correct clips that just need to be linked to the originals. However in the project bin, there is only one clip (as can be seen in the photo). When I try to Link Media from the timeline, it only gives the option of linking the single clip that's in the project bin. When I right click the clips in the timeline and "Reveal in Project", it leads me to the single clip I have there which is not correct.
Any ideas of what the issue is here?

page 106 davinci 15 color grading pdf file...
Note the DRP file ....that is the collection and saving for sharing with others.
You will need to HAVE the original source materials so you can move them into the folders of your choice and link them via the xml in Premiere Pro.
You'll get the general idea how to do it by reading a little of that pdf file...but your steps will be different.
If you have the same version of resolve as your friend ask him to send you the DRP and show him this info about page 106 in the pdf file...
Once you have stuff xfered to resolve, than you just do your premiere project using the same source materials.

Where can I find that PDF?
I don't have Resolve, just Premiere. However I do have all the original source files on my computer..
EDIT:
I found the PDF and read that page, but I don't understand. Is this the process my editor needs to follow? Where would he find the DRP file?

If you have all the original stuff import that stuff into your project like you would normally... just import all of it. Then see what happens. hehe.... I have a feeling there will be conforming issues but who knows ?

I tried but still doesn't work. I'm not thinking it may be because the original files are 23.976 fps, but he edited in 24 fps. The empty clips in the XML timeline have metadata of 24 fps...

hmmmm.... a bit of a rat's nest.....
You may find that the best solution ( given the problems between different NLE's and computers ) is for him to send you a high resolution intermediate export you like, maybe pro res or whatever....and just load that... and then do an 'auto detect' for scene changes to get your cuts. And then do manually to clean it up.
I have no clue what you're working on but it's kinda important to try to get ducks in a row between the two of you.

p.s. the FPS is the least of your problems... that won't matter

can final cut export an EDL ? Why not ask him to give you one of those and see if it works ??

Very interesting and simple workaround with the auto detect. How do you do auto detect in Premiere?
Also, can premiere import EDL? Never heard of that.

Edit Decision List ( EDL ) is very similar to Xtensible Markup Language ( XML ).. it's just text ( can be edited in notepad or other text programs that don't use formatting )... it's just stuff that says, " do this and do that " with the timeline etc. using original source materials.
I think all NLE's import and export EDL.
I only use old version of PPro, so I don't know how to auto detect scenes... but if you google it you'll probably find the right command ( probably called 'scene detect ' ).
🙂
good luck !

scene detect is a little weird.. like if a car at night has headlights on facing camera, and the lights go OUT the program will probably see that as a 'cut'. No big deal... you can just scrub through stuff and fix it as you go.

Luckily this video is only 30 seconds, so the manual cuts was a great idea. For the future though may be tedious

All I'm really doing is color grading and replacing shots I don't like, so it works
