Hi everyone,
My keyboard shortcuts in Premiere haven't worked for years. Even undo and delete are operations I need to access through the menu bars.
I've tried every imagineable solution found on the internet, without success.
The interesting thing is that over the past few years I've used multiple different Creative Cloud accounts - at first my student account and later my work account. In neither of these accounts was I able to use my shortcuts. I didn't sync any settings between them, so I'm stumped on why two completely separate accounts would face the same issue.
It can't be the device either. I've built a new computer and got a new laptop within those few years and they all face the same issue, even when I set up a new Adobe account on a newly built system.
All my other Adobe software works just fine with shortcuts.
It makes no sense why it would consistently not work in Premiere, despite changing accounts, devices, networks and whatever else.
Am I missing a simple small setting somewhere that enables/disables shortcuts?
I use the default Workspace without any detatched windows or windows on separate screens, so it's unlikely to be that either.
Any help would be much appreciated, it's incredibly frustrating to access every single little function through menu bars.
That put me on the right track, thank you very much!
For anyone else with the same issue, here's how I fixed it:
I copied the .kys files from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro 2022\Keyboard Shortcuts and pasted them into the Documents folder - where custom keyboard shortcut layouts are usually stored; Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\22.0\Profile-CreativeCloud-\Win
In the keyboard shortcuts settings page in Premiere, you'll now have all default layouts displayed twice. Select the new one and it

If you can't use keyboard shortcuts, there's an issue with where Premiere stores them and accessing them. Which can be because of things like OneDrive which likes to control all your User files ... that bollixed my computer totally. It took me 3 days to get OneDrive banished and my Premiere able to sync settings.
There are other things that can cause that also. So the first thing I would check is where they are expected to be, and that Pr can access them.

It's possibe that OneDrive is messing with things. I do use it on my work laptop. But that definitely isn't the case on my home workstation or the workstations I used on my old Adobe account - there was no OneDrive installed on any of those machines and they still faced the same issue.
In any case, the workaround seems to work, so I'll enjoy my shortcuts for now.
