Managing Clips with Different Aspect Ratios

I have a selection of clips shot on iphone or a different smartphone. Some are shot horizontally, some vertically, and some have been exported and then resized post-export. This was obviously not my choice and am having major issues trying to string them all together. Here are some of my issues:

Once a clip is placed on the timeline or sometimes when created into a new sequence, the aspect ratio automatically changes - the source aspect no longer matches program monitor. Does anyone have any suggestions to keep program aspect the same as source, even when the clips are different aspect from one another? Or might you have any tips to manage a timeline with a bunch of clips that are sourced at different aspect ratios?

One Clip (Props Below), which was shot vertically, after importing the file into premiere the audio plays in slowmotion, whether viewing from source or program monitor but the file on my computer shows no audio issues. Could this be occuring due to the import process?

When that same clip is placed on the timeline, the aspect ratio automatically changes like I mentioned earlier. Many of the clips can't be played back smoothly (red line).

Another clip (props below) is jittery post-import. I have reimported mulltiple times. Both the source and the program monitors are jittery so I don't think it's a playback issue.

If the footage is variable framerate which it obvious is, convert to constant framerate with Handbrake before bringing into Premiere.

As for the first file it The resolution is very very tiny. Probably unusable.

Post screenshot sequence settings.

Just work with one sequence and position/scale the clips manually (you have no choice as they are all different)

If you're trying to maintain the various aspect ratios, I suggest changing the sequence settings to the largest of the frames you are working with. Then the others will fit within that. If you're doing a documetnary or something where there's some reason for the various iphone formats, other formats, etc. with different aspect ratios, you can maintain them this way or at least just be able to see everything while you're still cutting.

To resize all the clips to the sequence frame size, you can use the Auto Reframe effect. This effect uses AI to determine the point of interest in each video and ensures it's accurately framed.

1. Open the Effects panel.
2. Find the Auto Reframe effect.
3. Drag and drop the Auto Reframe effect onto each clip in your timeline.

This should help manage clips with different aspect ratios more efficiently.
