Since I updated Premiere CS6 to 6.0.4, the source clip (in the source window) zoom in each time I mark an in or out point. I have to drag the little grey bar to zoom back the entire clip in view.
I tried changing keyboard shortcuts to default Premiere CS6 and others but it's doing the same thing.
What's up? Am I the only one with this behavior?
Hi All,
6.0.5 is now available. 6.0.5 update fixes the setting in and out points in the source monitor bug.

OK, in an attempt to replicate the exact issue, I chopped a piece of music to exactly 1:51 in Audition, then loaded it into the Source monitor and set the CTI to exactly 1:14. I am typing this on my second monitor as I actually do the things I am writing about. You are getting this as sort of a real time reaction.
That puts the CTI about three quarters of the way across the timeline.
I set the in point and Yikes! I see the problem a lot better now. I get it. That is certainly more than "a bit".
So I set about to make various in and out points as though to make subclips and it is obvious that you can't work this way. The darn thing moves around on you. PITA is an understatemnt.
I did, however, find a minor workaround that might help until they fix the bug. It isn't great, but it might help in some cases. If you slightly touch the beginning or the end of the bar before you start, just so that it is showing, let's say 99% of the timeline instead of 100%, then it doesn't move. At least I could not make it move unless it was set for 100%.

I can reproduce this also: canon mxf, dslr mov and m2ts.

I see it with h264 and AVCHD too

I spent all last night in an attempt to co-exist with PPRO V6.0.4, with keyboard shortcuts..... but Alas...... As much as I want to use this update, the operational ramifications are too painful....
This morning I knew what I had to do...... I rolled back to my Acronis Mid April 2013 Backup..... Which was 6.0.3, less other Master Suite updates.....
Now doing Windows, Adobe (less 6.0.4), Nvidia, and other support programs that have updated since April....
Will test and then create a new "Adobe 6.0.3" backup ....
I now officially await 6.0.5.
And if you want someone to beta test it....As usual, I'd be more than willing, as long as it doesn't involve the Cloud....
Thanks for listening! Jan

I did spent all yesterday evening trying to co-exist with PPRO CS 6.0.4, using keyboard shortcuts to find a work around the source monitor edit issue...
I really tried to justify it's action, and find a work around.... I did, if you don't mind hitting "-" and "=" repeatedly,,,,
But, This morning, faced with beating my head against a brick wall, and a revision to a project started in 6.0.3, I decided to throw in the towel, and restore an Acronis backup that had 6.0.3 on it....
I've seen the bugfix list of 6.0.4...... It IS IMPRESSIVE.... I just wish it had been beta-tested!
One good thing I found out.... Sessions I created in 6.0.4 seem to open and work correctly in 6.0.3

You can roll back updates of the same version easily, you cannot downgrade a version of the product.

Ann, Earlier in this same subject I mentioned that 6.0.3 update would not work after 6.0.4 was applied.
Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 6.0.3 Update
Installation failed. Error Code: U44M2P7
And Steve said un-install/reinstall was needed...
How do you: "roll back updates of the same version easily" ??

Oh I see what you mean (figure of speech: roll back), yes you have to deinstall Premiere first.

if you try to open the clip in source monitor from a timeline this behaviour is not noticed.
I notice it here when opening from the timeline. Same media, same project, this does not happen with Premiere Pro CC.

Quite annoying: I rolled back to 6.0.3.

I imagine it would be terribly annoying if I had not already upgraded to CC.
Most software companies don't fix old programs. They just include the fixes in the next release. I find it amazing that Adobe is even trying to fix CS6. I understand why people want them to do so, I just don't see the value to Adobe. It seems to be coming out of some sort of loyalty to customers that so many people are accusing them of not having.
In any case, if this bug bothers you, submit a bug report. With enough bugs reports being submitted, they may very well decide to fix this one too.

I have CC but I also have some CS6 projects which I do not want to upgrade as there are other people involved who do not use CC.
I do not need to file a bugreport. 6.03. is just for me as I do not use spanned avchd clips (I mostly work with Canon codec)

Yes it's very annoying. I rolled back to 6.0.3 too. This version is working for me without any issues.
As long as the subscription model is available I will not update to the new version. It's too expensive to me.

Just wanted to add that I'm having this exact same issue since the update and that it's highly annoying. But am glad to hear it's not just me being crazy.

When you say you rolled back.... How did you do it?
Thanks

You must completely wipe out all of your Premiere Pro program files by removing the program properly using the Add/Remove Programs utility, then install CS6 from scratch. Then upgrade to 6.0.3

Is it too early (or too Late) (or am I being too foreward?) to ask if this will be fixed? Due to mutiple reasons, I have no plan to upgrade to the Cloud.
I guess I could more easily just do an Acronis restore to 6.0.3, but since I'm awaiting Matrox to examine the 6.0.4 upgrade, there are reasons why I may try and 'tough it out' if a fix is forthcoming....
I appreciate Adobe's attempt to fix the AVCHD issues, but shouldn't you have beta tested this first?
Really, don't you think you should have "Got The Band" Back together to test, before releasing?

Hello Mr. Steven Gotz,
The reason Adobe is trying to fix CS6 is because they still sell
the software as a perpetual license, and will profit from those sales.
Also, Adobe has stated that they "...will provide bug fixes and
security updates as necessary" for CS6.

Can I purchase a perpetual license for Creative Suite 6?
"Yes. Adobe will continue to make Creative Suite 6 available as
a perpetual software license, and will provide bug fixes and security
updates as necessary. All of the CS6 suite editions and individual
products continue to be available for purchase by Electronic
Software Delivery (ESD) on Adobe.com as well as through select
retailers. Volume licensing for these products is also available
through Adobe Authorized Resellers worldwide."
Have a nice day.
