I'm running the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro and everything works great so far except for mask tracking. It simply doesn't work. I create a mask (currently doing this in Lumetri color) and hit "track mask forward". The tracking progress bar comes up and nothing happens. No progress shows up and eventually I just stop it.
Any ideas as to how I might troubleshoot this?
Thank you!

Latest version is not a version: post version number and build. Also OS and comp specs.
Post screencapture of what you are doing.

I'm Having the same issue, I create an opacity mask press the "track selected mask forward" and the progress bar comes up and was maybe getting to about 10%before stopping, but now it won't even do. I left it running for a couple hours while out running errands and it still didn't move. I cleared my cache, restarted my whole system, and relaunched premiere and my session with no change. Please help. I'm running PP 22.5.0 on an imac (specs attached) I was able to succesfully track another clip in the same sequence, but now it won't budge. Editing 4kDCI Braw at 8:1 compression.

Why do all of you people talk like this? I swear, I've never once seen an Adobe "Community Expert" be kind to new users – it's always this exact same condescending tone.
Can't you be even slightly polite to the people come to this forum looking for help?

This happens to my system as well. For what it's worth, I closed out PR and restarted and the tracking progress worked for me.

This comment is ridiculous, don't take your frustrations out on others, think carefully before being rude to someone. In this case it would have been better to have kept quiet since you didn't come here to help. Be helpful next time.

Same problem here, for a long time actually.

Premiere Pro Version 23.5.0
Tracking works only intermittently. Most of the time it gets stuck like the screenshot Beachhead98 provided.

This is ultimately what my issue was aswell. 8k footage was freezing the tracker.

Make sure clip speed is at 100%. If not, change to 100, do mask tracking and then change back.

Same issue here and with no exact way how to fix it I've found sollution that is not exactlly smooth, but works. At least for me (Max M1 Pro).
It seems, that Premiere has issue with specific combination of Frame x Mask. I've found two possible sotlutions. Restart premiere pro with every take or move image 1-3 frames and then press button again
I'm not sure if it'l work for you, but it surelly is worth a shot.
Hopefully it'll be fixed soon

This has to be a bug as it sometimes works but mostly doesnt. Problem is I need a stable platform and if Adobe cant supply it well it might be worth looking at other suppliers. Go onto X and send a public message, they will answer you very quickly

I figured out a solution. The problem is that I had 2 active lumetri effects in the clip. I had to disable one of them in order for mask tracking to work on the other. Looks like mask tracking doesn't work well with clips that have all these extra effects, so maybe temporarily disable them to apply the mask tracking, then re-activate your effects

Temporarily disabling lumetri effect did it for me! great tip

As Josha stated. Check the speed of your clip.
I did and forgot it was at 200%.
Set to 100% and bingo. Tracking works.
Then spread it back up to 200%.

Yes, it was the speed 😉

Found a solution,
I deleted all media cache files: Preferences < Media Cache < Remove Media Cache Files
Works perfectly for me now- hope this helps!
