So, I can't get my beautiful Mavic 3 footage into Premiere Pro 2022. What gives? I have to downgrade the footage (which isn't the reason i purchased the expensive drone) to be able to get it into the editor. Very frustrating. It's not the file sizes as i can get other larger file sizes from other cameras there. Someone help. This is extremely frustrating! How on Earth can Premiere not support Mavic 3?!

I've moved this from the Using the Community forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the Premiere Pro forum so that proper help can be offered.

What happens when you try to import, an error message or...? How do you import, File > Import > Media, Media Browser or...? Where is the footage, still on the memory card, an external drive, an internal drive?
In camera settings, iow H.264, H.265 and framerate?
The more info you give, the better.

Maybe a standard drone but the footage is H.265 and is a pita to edit.
Transcode to edit friendly codec before bringing it into Premiere.

i do that now but it totally degrades the footage. this is the whole reason i wanted a super drone for outstanding clarity!

Footage was shot on a MAVIC 3. This is pretty standard drone. Everyone has DJI.
Footage was transferred to a Hard Drive.

Got it. 🙂
I downloaded a H.265 clip shot by a Mavic and get an error as well, "The file has an unsupported compression type."
I tried to rewrap the file in Shutter Encoder but it crashed when i imported the footage. HandBrake chrashed as well... Then i tried to rewrap it in TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 5 and it worked and the resulting .mp4 file do import and playback without any issue.
Rewrapping does not re-encode the file. TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 6 is Windows only and is payware. The trial is fully functional though. Transcoding it in MPGEnc Video Mastering Works to CineForm got me a file that edit and playback as butter.

Rewrapping do not re-encode/downgrade the footage. Transcoding to CineForm will not visually downgrade the file.
If you transcoded with HandBrake you must make sure to change the framesize in the Dimensions tab since HB always defaults the output to 1080p. So if you input a 4K clip and just transcode it the resulted file is 1080p. I got it to work in HB but the file lags a lot here.
EDIT:
Make sure that the framerate matches as well. HB defaults to 30p while the footage i used is 59.94. Transcoding 59.94 to 30p will indeed downgrade the footage.

Again THANK YOU. FOCKING VERY COOL OF YOU.
Shutter Enconder is seeming to work for me. I just want to now make sure footage doesn't get downgraded. I will compare with other options. Don't mind paying a few bucks for software that helps with a project. Cheers!

shutter enconder worked. question - original file size is 3.5 G and now file is 300KB it's 1/10 the size. How does this not degrade the footage?

What settings did you use in Shutter Encoder?

good point. i went back and re-adjusted setting 60000kbs for instance. footage looks amazing and comes into Premiere Pro 2022. Shutter Encode worked here. Let me scream that louder ... SHUTTER ENCODER WORKS TO RESOVE THE 'this file has an unsupported compression type' issue.

Hi, could you please precise what option you used within ShutterEncoder ? I tried a rewrap, the file is seen by Premiere Pro 22.4 importer but compression is still not recognized. Thank you

Hi I cannot find this coversion option in ShutterEncoder. I also tried Adobe Media Encoder 2022, but the files from the DJI MAvic 3 are not listed (i.e. not detected/recognized)

Thank you, I did that, the .MOV file is correctly created but Adobe Premiere Pro 22.4 does not list it in the folder when creating a project in the import tab.

Skip the import tab. Just make a project and import the old-fashioned way.

What is the old fashioned way? I also can't see anything on the import tab when I navigate to the folder where my files are stored. Is there a work around?

Hi @Sergio5D11 ,
Sorry for the problem. Can you please try the latest beta build once ? It should import there without any issue.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Mayjain

Hello, I have the same problem, the footages from my Mavic 3 Cine are not displayed for import within Adobe Premiere Pro 22.4, the file format is MP4 with 60FPS 3840x2160, windows media player reads it without any issues, why Premiere Pro cannot work with these files ?
