Media Cache Files Location in Lightroom cache folder?

Guest
Jun 08, 2018 Jun 08, 2018

I am Using Adobe premiere pro 2017, I have a separate SSD for Media Cache files so whenever I am doing a new project I goes to media cache settings to check the location of my files to my Dedicated SSD.

But every time when I restart PC  media database and media cache file location automatically have changed to default folder.

Some times the default location is  C:\Users\Super Pandavaas\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches\Video\Media Cache

then i have to browse it each time to my prefer location

please help me to fix this problem

On other side lightroom  is working fine in media cache files location preference option.

Hi Kunal,

we work with SSD's too.

We say to our Artist that they check, the cache way to the SSD,

but there always problems with the link to the SSD's.

I understand you

I think one point in a lot of ADOBE Problems is not the ADOBE basis Software!

(Kevin get i a point?)

But the Software Management!

And that is a Problem from Patrick and the other ADOBE Manager.

They buy alot of Software over the yeras,

but they have not the power and mind to bring the software in a functioning "ADOBE" standart!

So in all ADOBE Software the preference settings work other,

that is for some artist not so good.

The settigs are on a lot of places, that ist not so good for some artists.

In Premiere are the settings technik especially bad.

Greetings

That's not normal.  Your Cache and Scratch settings should stay the same until they're changed by you.

Check Steps 3G and H below.

Check to see what files are actually stored within the media cache files folder at the default location. Premiere Pro will allow you to set the location for your cache files to a custom location where .pek, .cfa, and the majority of other cache files will be stored. However, Premiere Pro will always store .ims files at the default location. This can not be changed. These .ims files (importer state) are very small in size... generally only a few kilobytes in size and it would take a extremely large number of these accumulated files before the consumed enough disk space to be problematic. So, even though you may have set your cache file location to a custom, and presumably faster, drive location, you will in reality then end up with two Media Cache Files folders at two separate locations. I expect that this is what your are finding.

Hi Community,

Tech note: I noticed that this is occurring to me on my Mac. Premiere Pro 14.9. Just a note that you may need to change this to the proper location and manually clean your media cache files from both locations.

It is a bug that the team knows about and will be released in an upcoming version of Premiere Pro.

Thanks,
Kevin
