I subscribed to Creative Cloud two weeks ago, so I assume I'm running the latest version of Premiere. I'm running it on a brand new Asus (also two weeks old) running Windows 10.
I am trying to use two different file formats. MXF files play fine. These were captured on a Canon on a card. Files captured on tape on another Canon were ingested as .mov files. These are playing jerky no matter what I do. In fact, they play jerky even in the source window, as opposed to the sequence window.
The things I have done include:
1. Create a new sequence with just .mov files. Problem persists.
2. Change sequence settings. Problem persists. On another thread I discuss the fact that Premiere isn't letting me create "new sequence from clip."
3. Create new project with only .mov files. Problem persists.
4. Project settings don't offer many options.
One pertinent thing may be that the .mov files came in at 1440 X 1080. The MXF footage is 1920 X 1080. But again, if I could create a sequence with the .mov settings, this shouldn't be a problem. Also, the .mov files play badly even in the source window.
I'm not as familiar with the hardware side of things, but I can say the computer is has an NVIDIA GEFORCE card (940 mx) and an Intel Core i7 7th generation chip. I can probably find the other specs but as the computer is so new, I'm thinking those aren't the problem.
As for solutions, I'm guessing it might be one of these:
1. Re-ingest footage at different settings.
2. Convert footage to MXF (which I don't know how to do but can certainly learn).
3. Fiddle with the NVIDIA settings, which I have looked at but there aren't a lot of options.
Sure would like to know why this is happening and would definitely appreciate any help/suggestions.
As noted in the other thread, those mov clips are in an odd format ... hdv8, proprietary to FCP, and need to be either transcoded out of FCP in a different format/codec or converted via Handbrake. So ... all questions on this should be handled in the other thread.

The only thing I should add is that the .mov files are MPEG2 files. When I "create a sequence from clip" with a .mov files (which is not easy, see separate thread), it says that it is 1080p.
