Multi camera and color

Participant ,

I have a multicam sequence that has 5 different cameras.  Two of those cameras are two Canon cameras (one an R5 and the other an R3) that were shot in CLog3.  When I have the multicam sequence in the timeline the colors look correct.  When I have the sequence that has the multicam sequence in it the colors look like uncorrected log footage.  The color settings for both sequences are both set to Rec 709.  Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Does anything change if you flatten the Multicam sequence by right clicking in the timeline then selecting Multicam>Flatten ?

First, make sure Auto Detect log, and auto tonemapping are on. Period.

Next ... I couldn't tell from your post if the issue is when nesting the multciam into a non-multicam sequence, or not. Clarification please?

I checked and auto tone mapping is on in both sequences.  Auto Detect Log was unchecked so I checked it.  It didn't change anything.

Yes, the part that is messed up is the multicam nested in a non-multicam sequence.

So here is an interesting thing.  I added the original camera clip to a different track in the sequence and it fixed the issue in the multicam sections.  I'm doing an export so I'll report back if it's completely fixed or not.

Fascinating ...  and do report back!

I'm wondering, after you changed the setting and it didn't immediately "take" ... if there was a glitch in the metadata for that clip momentarily ... as sometimes, things like this are fixed by closing, holding shift down on launch, and dumping all cache files.

So maybe something in the cache hadn't changed yet ... hmmm.

This has got to be a bug somewhere.

As I said, to get the color to look right, I added the original clip to the timeline and then removed it.  If I close the project and open it back up I have to do the same thing.  If I export the clip and use Media Encoder the color comes out wrong.  If I export it using Premiere with the same settings it does it correctly.

That's bizarre! Wow. Would be a nasty pain. That said, I tried, and I can't replicate.

So I'm trying to puzzle out how to figure out what's going differently on your rig than mine.

So that works. The weird thing is that if I have that open and then switch back to the multicam one, it works as well. It's very strange.
