Multicam Video Editing | How To Switch Audio?

Community Beginner ,
Oct 09, 2019 Oct 09, 2019

I and a friend were playing around with recording gameplay and I wanted to edit it together and since we both are recording game sounds I want to be able to switch the audio when I switch the video instead of using just one of the audio files. Thanks!

When you are making the Multicam Source Sequence, one of the options is to Switch Audio. It defaults to camera 1

I have tried that, but when I press the one and two keys respectively to switch between the video clips, it still only uses one of the audio tracks.

Do I need to have the audio as separate files from the two video files?

No, I should have mentioned in the Program monitor, using the Wrench icon, enable Audio Follows Video:

After you have created your multicam sequence, from the standard settings such as the ones suggested in other answers. Right click the newly created multicam file and click create sequence from clip. Now open the new sequence, and it should be green on the timeline (it is on mine). Then double click the AUDIO (important) section of the clip on your timeline, and a new timeline sequence should pop up. This will have all the clips and audio in your multicam sequence seperated into different tracks. From here you can simply mute and un-mute whole tracks, which will play the audio source you want. Or you can also extend or crop the lenght of any audio/video file (Basically like a normal timeline!) and these changes will affect your multicam sequence. This is also a good place to do all audio effects and colour correction etc. Hope that helps. Had to bash my head around a lot before I figured this out. Furthermore it maybe a good idea to synchronise additional audio files after you created the multicam sequence, simply add the new audio file to the opened multicam timeline I described above, if it's turning into a pain in the ass. Good luck
