My projects are missing after update!!!!

I went to edit something just now and PP wasnt in my dock. It wasnt with the other apps either. I went into my creative cloud and it gave me the option to open it. I clicked it and it opened, i assumed it just updated but for some reason took it off my computer. When PP opened it had projects from a year ago in my Recents! 
How do i get back my projects I've been working on?

You can select them using the FILE/Open option, then navigate to the folder where your project is and select it.

This upgrade was from 2020 to 2021, so desktop shortcuts may need to be modified / recreated.

I tried that, the files are completely missing.
