Hello,

I recently changed my default location to store media cache files. However, I need to restore the default location and I can not figure this out. Can anyone help me out?

The default location for media cache files is (at least when testing on a brand new install of PP2019 on my Mac) is:

/Users/*your computer*/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/

Accessed of course from preferences> Media Cache

Is that what you wanted to know?

Media Cache Database is also defaulted to the same location.

Hi there,

Thank you. I also wanted to know how to restore this location as I had changed the default to my desktop by accident and can not figure out how to restore to the default location. I can navigate to this location while not in Adobe, however, from preferences I can not figure out how to access the hidden folder. Any thoughts?

Hi matthewr58346897,

You can customize the media cache location by navigating to Preferences > Media Cache.

Here is the default location for Media Cache:

macOS: /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common

Windows: \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common

(By default, AppData is a hidden folder. If required you may refer to this tutorial to know how to access it)

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Sumeet

Hi Sumeet,

I am able to navigate there while not in Premier Pro, however, while in the program and trying to restore default, then I am unable to locate the hidden folders. Any way to do that?

I have the same issue. Do you find a way to navigate from inside Premiere?

Go to Preferences > Media Cache... > Browse ... => then insert the correct path %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common into the bottom 'Folder' field and click 'Select'

The video below is for the PC but it might help on the MAC.

Hi Mattew,

If you haven't found a solution yet, here what you can do:

"Premiere Pro will fall back to the default location for cache files if the drive isn't available"

Hope this helps.
