New sequence window too big for my computer screen??

Please help! I brought and downloaded premiere pro 2017 today. I'm not able to do anything in it though because the new sequence window is too big and I am unable to make it smaller or move it up more so I am unable to click the submit button at the bottom.

I even updated to windows 10 because I heard it would help. My screen resolution is 1366 x 768 and its displayed at 100%.

What should I do?

Hi Agong,

My screen resolution is 1366 x 768 and its displayed at 100%.

That seems to be the issue.

Minimum requirements: 1280x800 display

I have the same issue, and it doesn't seem to matter what my resolution is at, the screen is still too big

And I suggest nothing less than a 24" 1920 x 1080 monitor.  The editing experience using anything smaller will be...unpleasant.

My built in display is 1280x800 and I'm experiencing the same issue.

Using Command N the New Sequence Window is too large for my screen.

I received a project file from my boss and when opening a window popped up saying that it was from a more updated version of premiere pro and that it wouldn't be opened with my version.

I updated to Premiere Pro CC 2017.

Unless you are editing SD with minimal effects, that computer will not work very well for Premiere Pro. It's got a slow processor and not much RAM.

How about hard drives ( what kind, what size, what is on each, and how many)?

Premiere Pro has been working just fine before this recent update.  It wasn't crashing and I had my playback at 1/4 the quality.  I use the program for basic editing; cutting, titles, dips in audio and video.

I have my video assets and project files on a "My Passport" 2TB External Hard Drive.

I have my video assets and project files on a "My Passport" 2TB External Hard Drive.

That drive, like most other 2.5" hard drives, spin at only 5200 or 5400 RPM. As such, you're barely going to achieve a sequential read speed of 100 MB/second on the outer tracks, with that transfer rate deteriorating severely to as low as 50 MB/second as that disk fills up with backups and data. That's way too slow for video editing these days, especially since most professional-level NLEs decompress and recompress working videos on the fly, making super-fast disks (500+ MB/second) a must.

To clarify, my boss sends me project files.  Because he updated his Premiere Pro, I had to update or else Premiere would not open the project.

I've read elsewhere that the new sequence window bug is only affecting laptops, not desktops.

Got it.

I do not recommend using a Laptop for editing.  I do recommend a 24" screen at a minimum, as well as five internal hard drives.  Since no Laptop in the world offers that, there is no Laptop suitable for editing.

Build your own Windows machine for best performance.

Hi ChrisD,

That's on a laptop display? Sorry to hear that. I'll let the product team know. File a bug here.

Thanks,
Kevin

Yes that is my laptop display and to be honest it's a little insulting to say that my machine isn't suitable for editing since I haven't had any issues until this most recent update.

While I am doing research to build my own desktop, maybe you could reframe from giving advice that is just having consumers spend more money to use your products.

My work around seems to be either to deal with the larger window or to revert back to CS6 and import assets separately.

I don't believe I said that. Are you confusing my post with another one? I only asked if your display from a laptop or not. I also apologized for it not working with Premiere Pro. I think you can make your machine work just fine for certain formats.

Since your display should be supported for this version, I asked you if you wouldn't mind filing a bug. Please do so. I hope we can get this fixed for you on the next update.

Thanks,
Kevin

Adobe has aced out many users with relatively new laptops (which meet ALL the other processor, RAM, etc. requirements but max out at 768 vertical pixels) ... to gain 32 pixels.

That was me, not Kevin.  I'm just a user like yourself.

I offer that advice because it works.  I don't claim it's the only thing that works, only that it does work.

Hi Agong,

I even updated to windows 10 because I heard it would help. My screen resolution is 1366 x 768 and its displayed at 100%.

Your screen is below the system requirements, You need a screen resolution of 1280 x 800, minimum. You'll need to get a new computer screen.

Thanks,
Kevin

Oh my God this worked ! But what is you have to change your settings at some point ?

I'm using a laptop with 1366 x 768 settings, I have tried changing them but nothing would help.
