No more preview after the last update

Explorer ,
Apr 10, 2019 Apr 10, 2019

Hi,

after the last update (13.1) the clips that I filmed with my Phantom 4 (2720x1530, 25 fps) are no longer played in the program window.

This appens when the in project setting I select CUDA for the rendering and playing.

I have to switch to Mercury playback engine in order to play the clips properly.

With the others clips (filmed with Nikon 850, Nikon 750 and GoPro) I have no problems.

During the exporting the problem doesn't sussist.

I updated the Nvidia drivers (as suggested by Premiere) of my GTX 1050 to the last version.

Any suggestion?

Thanks!!!

Luciano

although this is related problem and not directly associated with CUDA,  I am still bewildered on why Adobe cannot update the software while leaving the render/preview files intact on existing projects. I have been using Premiere for more than 20 years. This was never a problem until about 2 years ago. With every update since I've had to delete all render files and re-render my sequences...some with 4k and many effects, taking many hours to re-render. My current timeline says it has 1 hour 22 mi

Try clearing your cache and preview files. Manually.

How did you update your GPU drivers? it's best to update from Nvidia and not through windows.
I suggest a free re-instal of the drivers.

Hi Christian,

I downloaded the updated drivers from Nvidia web site directly, I choose the video editor's version.

I will try to download and install the standard version.

With every update since I've had to delete all render files and re-render my sequences...some with 4k and many effects, taking many hours to re-render. My current timeline says it has 1 hour 22 minutes to complete the rendering (and I have a very fast system).

I have been trying to find an answer to these disappearing render files through forums and support (which has proven useless 50% of the time...and that's only if one can get through to them, a Sisyphean task). None of the suggestions on the thread: Is there any way to retain rendering files from the previous version?  have worked so far, including updating the video driver suggested above.

Why does this problem continue, unabated and unanswered?? I surely thought that there would be a fix by now.

Thank you so much Brit!

I've just re-render my entire project and now all the sequence are played properly in the program windows.

It's really boring but it works!!!

Many thanks again.

I'm glad it helped. However I still am wondering why we need to re-render all sequences after an update. i never had to before 2 years ago, and I've been using this software for over 20 years.  This is the third update in a  year and I am spending many days and nights re-rendering all my many dozens of recent sequences, some taking several hours to re-render.

Unfortunately also in a new project I wasn't able to open 4k files in the source monitor.

I reinstalled the original Nvidia drivers in both version (creator and gamer) with no results.

So I decided to downgrade the version of Premiere to 13.0.2.

Now everything works properly.

I hope that someone in Adobe will take care about this huge problem.
