I am using Premier Pro 2023 23.6.0 (Build 675)
The files I am importing are MP4's but I've also tested AVI files.
I have no soundplayed back in ANY file imported to Premier Pro 2023
I can clearly see there is sound on the video but it won't play it. If I export the clip there is sound on the rendered clip, so it's not an issue with audio being disable in edited clips.
I have tried looking under "Preferences>Playback>Primary Audio Device..." dropdown. And made sure it is set to "Adobe Desktop Audio". That has not worked.
I have gone to Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware > switch Default Input. This has not worked.
I'm starting to get frustrated with over 60 videos to edit, on a contracted deadline and Adobe are screwing me around with faulty software. Calls to Adobe just seem to be hours of hold with no indication of how soon you'll get answered or if any help will be forthcoming. For an expensive subscribtion the customer service support is rubbish.

Set Default Input to No Default.
For audio device, set to the same as your OS expects.
