Paste on a specific layer broken since last update

Hi everyone,

There seems to be a bug that I'm experiencing on my PC and my partner on his Macbook since the last update.

Premiere uses only layer 1 when pasting clips, even when other layers are selected. Pasting in a specific place is impossible since it just cuts into whatever footage is on layer 1.

This is absolutely essential and it completely broke my workflow. Does anyone have a workaround?

Copy/Paste now defaults to the same layer regardless if other layers are targeted in the target sequence. Fix with a keyboard shortcut change.

I removed the "Paste to same track" in shortcut settings and it's fixed! Thank you!

Why would they do that? Is there another way to target the layer when pasting?

There's just the track targeting. But there are a lot of shortcuts, mostly unassigned.

In the Keyboard shortcuts, type "target" in the search box.

BTW, here is the list of all the Paste options:

Before 22.5 and the same after, at the Application level:

Paste -> Ctrl+V
Paste Insert -> Ctrl+Shift+V
Paste Attributes -> Ctrl+Alt+V

Not existing before 22.5 and added, with 2 shortcuts, in the Timeline Panel:

Paste Insert To Same Track -> Ctrl+Shift+V
Paste [Overwrite] To Same Track -> Ctrl+V
Paste Insert To Target Track -> Unassigned
Paste [Overwrite] To Target Track -> Unassigned
