Hi,
I have an issue with Premiere Pro. After using the play button for a couple of times, the play button stops working and I can no longer see video, play a video in the source screen or play the timeline. When I restart Premiere Pro it works for a couple of times and then stops working for a couple of times again.
I tried the sollutions that were suggested here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/premiere-pro-video-not-playing-in-source-mon...
I also tried to change the audio hardware, but both sollutions are not working for me.
I don't want to restart hundreds of times within building one video. Is there another way to fix this issue?
Thanks!

Hi Chanel24265924cuba,
We're sorry about the poor experience. Let us know the version of Premiere Pro that you are using & the system specs. Also, is this happening with any specific project or all the projects?
Thanks,
Sumeet

Currently the timeline stops playing everytime after 10 seconds or so. Then I have to restart Premiere Pro for it to work and then it stops playing again after a couple seconds. I can't use the programme like this. Do you have another solution?

Hi Chanel,
Sorry, can you provide info about the system you are running: CPU/GPU/RAM/HD, etc.? Please also tell us the camera & format you are using. Often, you need to create proxies or transcode the footage to get reliable performance with most systems, I found.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your response. Hopefully I have the correct information you need.
I'm using the Canon powershot g7 x mark iii & Nikon Coolpix A900 camera.
What do yo mean by format?
Kind regards,
Chanel

Hi Sumeet,
Thank you for your response. Somehow my previous response was not posted. So let me try again.
This is my first project so I don't know if this is happening with more projects.
Are the specs above the ones you need?
Kind regards,
Chanel van Hoof

I would check your audio hardware settings and make sure input is set to 'none'

I set the default input to no input. But the issue remains. After playing and pausing the videos within premiere pro a couple of times, the video froze. The timeline and sound sometimes keeps playing, but with a frozen video frame.

Hi, Richard,
Thanks for your suggestion. I'm writing this comment in December of 2023. And suddenly am having the same problem in the latest version of Premiere Pro 2023. build 2362 (build 6). And am using Windows 11.
Can you let us know the specific best steps to access the audio hardware settings -- including where to ensure that the input is set to 'none'
Thanks!

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html
If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.
If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Hi Peru,
Thank you for the different options. I tried them all. Unfortunatelly, none off them worked. I even restarted the entire edit of a new project without importing old files. This error keeps appearing in every single project. For now I see no other option than restarting the programme multiple times per every minutes during a working day. Are there any other options I can explore?
Kind regards,
Chanel

Same here. Unsure why this is happening all of a sudden. I operate off a pretty heavy duty system too.
