Preference/Setting; Media > Default Media Scaling > Scale to Frame Size doesn't seem to work anymore starting version 25.
Set to Frame size has become Fit to Frame; which is fine. But Scale to Frame Size just does the same as 'None'.
It works as expected when using the fly out menu in the timeline btw.
My suggestion would be to remove it altogether... 😉 'Fit to Frame' is always better in my opinion...
The Preference setting will only work on newly imported files.
Files already in the project are not affected. Either use the fly out menu or the Properties Panel.

I never noticed that. I thought it was for new clips being placed in the timeline. I'll check it... Thanx!

That has not been my experience. I installed 25.1.0 this morning and the Fit to Frame preference setting was working for me for two hours with no problem. But then, bizarrely, it suddenly stopped working.
I restarted the app, and tried importing new footage (based on your post), but the newly imported footage didn't scale properly either.
Any ideas for what the problem might be?
I'm on a 2019 iMac (3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9) running OS X 14.7. I cleared the PP cache before working this morning.

If Premiere is acting up: trash preferences.

Thanks for your reply, Ann. I would have done that, but since I had just done a clean install of v25.1.0 two hours before (and all my prefs were new except the keyboard), I didn't think that was the issue.
Embarrassingly (and fortunately) enough, a computer restart seems to have fixed the problem for now.

This issue still persists for me. I currently have my media preference set to "Scale to Frame Size" and the clips that I pull into my timeline "fit the frame size". As a work-around I've set my "F" key to "Fill Frame" and press it directly after pulling my clip into my timeline. Doing this for every clip is annoying and I just want my clips to fill the frame once put into my timeline. I've tried resetting my adobe preferences/computer and newly importing clips but nothing works clips. Someone help please.
