Premier file not linking with After Effects file in new update

I've got a premier file which has an imported after effects file in it. The links have broken because both files have had to be converted, but now when I try to re-link the after effects file, my premier freezes and no longer does anything. I'm really struggling to find a workaround

For reference, i'm on mac running the 2023 versions of both AE & Prem w/Monterey
