Premiere 2020 crashing when hitting Ctrl+M (File/Export/Media...)

New Here ,
May 21, 2020 May 21, 2020

I downloaded Premiere a few days ago off Creative Cloud.  Was working on a small project and exported a few times with success to show others my progress.  Now... every time I try to export it crashes before even getting to the menu that displays before actually exporting.  I fiddled with "dumbing down" the file and even tried uninstalling the program, restarting, re-installing... same thing.  I even opened a new project and inserted one 50MB file.. same thing (so it's not a issue of being a large file).  I even opened a new project and tried the export command before dragging in any file at all... same thing. No error message on crash, just ends up "(not responding)"

Please help

Is this with Premiere Pro 14.2? If so, could you please try going to Preferences > Media and uncheck “Enable hardware accelerated encoding and decoding (requires restart)” then Save, Quit and relaunch Premiere Pro. Does Export now work?

Thank you.

It was Premiere Pro 14.2 but I actually went down to 14.0 incase it was due to a recent update (I'll wait for a while before doing another update).  Upon restart I see your message and tried that too. One of the two did they trick because I'm in good shape now.  Thanks!

I came across this thread after Premiere (Version 14.8) was locking up when pressing Ctrl+M. I had previously tried downgrading to 14.7. Both versions locked up consistently when attempting to open the export doalogue.

I tried the solution here (disabling hardware encoding and decoding). It worked instantly. Just wanted to bring this to your attention.

If you would like to verify on your system, we believe we have a fix for this issue in Premiere Pro 14.3 Beta build 24+. 14.3 Beta will install separately from 14.2, so it should not affect 14.2. You can find 14.3 Beta in Creative Cloud under Beta apps.

Thank you.

FYI, Premiere Pro 14.3 has shipped and includes the fix for export using NVIDIA GPU without NVENC

I've been having this same issue for the last couple of days off and on. I have to close out of Premiere Pro and start over. I've lost a lot of my work several times now. I try to save as often as possible to avoid this, but out of habit, I have forgotten a few times. Is anyone else having this issue once again? I cannot save when it crashes (not responding). I've uninstalled and reinstalled, as well.
