Premiere 2025: Program Monitor Bug?

New Here ,
Feb 13, 2025 Feb 13, 2025

I just noticed that there is either a bug or a hidden setting I am not aware of within the program monitor. When I select the feature that allows you to zoom in or 'Fit' the screen to the program monitor, the ability to scroll up or down to view different areas of the screen while zoomed in are no longer available. Is this a bug?

For example I can zoom to 400% but there is no option to move the screen around. I tried using the hand tool once zoomed in, but no luck. This is a non issue in other versions.

This is a new feature and a UI change, but has been slightly altered in Premiere Pro Beta where you can pan around the screen by default instead of zoom. If you wish to go frame by frame using the mouse scrolling technique, point the cursor in the time ruler of the Program Monitor. I hope the advice helps.

Take Care,
Kevin

Thanks Kevin,

Do you know if there is any way to revert to the older stlye of nagivating the Program Monitor? It works smoothly but I dont like the lack of control if you accidently zoom in to one area and then you have to zoom out, refocus your cursor, and then zoom back in. It would be great to be able to zoom to the desired range and then move up or down without a zoom in/out.

Thank you!

If it helps, I don't like it either. I am a mac user and if I merely breathe on the Magic Mouse the Program Monitor zooms in. I'm glad to see the new behavior in Beta. I think it would be cool to have it back to the way it was, but these UI changes are sometimes driven by data from what users want to see. In some cases, folks like us get outvoted. Sorry about that.

Cheers,
Kevin
