Premiere CC is blocking CS6

Community Beginner ,

Hey everyone, dear Adobe team,

so I have been working on Premiere CS6 for the last couple of years. Recently though, I bought a one-month subscription of Premiere CC because I was working together with some other editors and we were switching projects and data all the time.

Since the project is finished now, I didn't renew my CC license and wanted to go back to my CS6 which I bought many years ago. Funny thing is, when I try starting CS6, Adobe tries to validate my version (which was validated when installing it) and tells me to renew my CC license. Now, I do get that this is a nifty thing when trying to push people into subscriptions of CC. Still, I would very much like to know how to prevent Adobe from doing that. I would like to open my old projects again (no, they have not been transformed to a CC-project). Any ideas?

I actually wanted to keep CC installed, in case another one-month-scenario opens up in the near future. Any way of doing that and still being able to use my older software which actually should in no way be connected to any CC-validating operations?

Of course, this is probably just a bug. I'm sure. Almost. So, any ideas?

I will now make my way through re-installing all the components, plugins and presets I need to in order to get CS6 running again. In case anyone in the near future wants to find out (via google etc) whether you can run Premiere CS6 while simultaneously having CC installed without paying for the subscription - the answer is no. I strongly advise you not to do it, unless enjoying hours of re-installation processes is one of your hobbies.

Thank you for that already. Will look into it.

Still, any chance someone from the "officials" could answer here as well? I searched the forum for solutions, and whenever this question or sth alike pops up, somehow no more feedback is given..

Edit: I take that back. Just found a thread where someone from Adobe actually says that having both CC and CS6 installed won't work. Well, —.

Mod Note: Warning. Do not use profanity in these forums.

I have PPCC 2017, CC2015 and CS6 operating on Windows 8. No problems like you have described. While I can't offer any solutions, suffice to say that they can and do work well installed on a computer.

Hey cvid01,

thank you for sharing. Does your CS6 work when your CC isn't actually activated / when you are not using it and thus you don't have a subscription for it?

I was able to run both CS6 and CC, but only as long as I paid the monthly fee for CC.

No, I haven't tried it without  the activated subscription other than before Adobe went to the "rental" mode. I believe that part of the problem may be that Adobe may have deleted its validation sites. You may need to contact Adobe directly to get this sorted out.

I believe it was stated that CS6 was purchased years ago and it was validated when installed. The implication is that CS6 was working before CC was even available.

Hey,

that is correct. CS6 as a matter of fact was / is installed from disc (yes, they had those back in the days..) and was validated subsequently. It was never part of any cloud software program on my computer. Only after I installed CC and used it for one month, the problems began. Although both CS6 and CC were running while I paid for CC, now that I don't pay for CC anymore I can't use either CC (of course not, no complaints here) OR CS6 (which I can only describe as an insolence).

I just had the same issue with AE. The other suggestions sounded convoluted so I looked further. Simple answer: just logout of cc,

like so:

How to logout in Creative Cloud?
