This project has mixed H.264 cameras (CANON 5D Mark ii & GoPro Hero 3). I have a late Mac Pro (3.7 GHz Quad-Core intel Xeon E5, 16 GB RAM, AMD FirePro D300 2GB). The problem doesn't get better no matter what I do. I do have captions and need them (I don't think that's the problem):
Here are somethings I've tried:
1. Updating to the latest software
2. Deleting and moving *.pek files (on and off major hard drive)
3. Collapsing all multigroups (I had a lot, such a pain to edit without those!)
4. Render the timeline
5. Get rid of all Legacy titles.
6. Upgrade to Big Sur
7. Make timeline shorter (never was a problem before and will be a problem)
8. Trying timeline set to MPEG (usually at ProRes Proxy), I changed this back to ProRes Proxy to try the below.
9. Started a new project and imported old project
10. Transcoding all clips to ProRes Proxy (in Process)
I am partially done transcoding, but it doesn't really seem to help. I can't tell if it's a specific clip, or what the hell. I want help, this is so ridiculous. It must have crashed 100-200 times in 2-3 weeks. It literally crashes every 5 minutes. I edit one thing then it crashes. I can see every once in a while it plays ok for a little bit then the cursor starts dragging and it crashes. Doesn't matter if I re-transcoded or not.

11. Tried to reset all settings.
12. Redid my keyboard shortcuts.
13. Opened project on another hard drive.

Reading now, I think it may be Big Sur that's the problem? That may have increased the crashing, I'm not sure.

14. Updated XCode, as I had one error that was XCode
15. Deleted all my render files
16. Changed my Optimize rendering for "Memory" versus "Performance"
17. Uncheck "Enable hardward accelerated decoding (requires restart)"
18. Unchecked "Extended dynamic range monitoring (when available)
19. Changed RAM reserved for other applications to 4GB, 6GB, and 15 GBs
All to no avail.

20. We created a new sequence left it as Custom and I-Frames Only MPEG in a new project, it eventually started crashing again, but seemed to work for a moment.

Thank you, I did, but I sent them to tech support directly, I don't have them anymore. Next time I'll include them in my post. I can't remember why, but this is solved now. Likely eventual updates or something, I don't remember.
