Hello, I'm currently doing montage of my first movie ever, it consists on 2 formats, one is 16 mm and the other is DVCAM, the problem is that the proportion of each one is different than the other, the digital file of the 16mm is 4k and the DVCam is 680x420, what should I do to best merge both files in one sequence? when I expand the DVCam it gives me lag after rendering. And I'm sure it creates a lot of pixeling. Help.
DVCAM ought to be 720x480 - if it's anything else, you have a problem to address right there before you start any editing.
As for how to combine SD and UHD (4k) footage, you will have a decision to make. How do you intend to distribute/view the end results?
What is the proportion of 4k footage to SD footage? 50/50, 90/10....??
Most people that have 4k source footage will edit in a 1080p Sequence, unless you really have a serious reason to need to distribute the final video in 4k. Editing as 1080p p

Hi benjamÃnp3890996,
Find answer to your query here: Mixing 1080p and 4K on Same Timeline
Let me know if that helps.
Thanks,

Most people that have 4k source footage will edit in a 1080p Sequence, unless you really have a serious reason to need to distribute the final video in 4k. Editing as 1080p provides some flexibility with being able to zoom/pan/crop the larger 4k source if desired for certain scenes, providing some flexible creative options.
However, any SD footage being edited in an HD sequence is going to look quite soft next to actual HD (or 4k) sources. So this goes back to how much SD footage will be used? This will in part dictate how you proceed. If a LOT of the footage will be SD, you may not want to edit as 1080p since that SD footage will just not match the HD.
A compromise might be to edit as 720p, so that the SD clips are not being blown up as much. And you can still deliver an HD product.
Another thing, I don't think 16mm is widescreen and the DVCAM is also likely 4:3, while HD and UHD are widescreen 16:9 formats, so how will you address that?
Much to consider.
