Premiere Pro 2020 Playback Very Choppy

I am working on a fairly small project in PPCC2020 with a music track, picture files, and I have fx on the prictures (Ken Burns Effect).  It was working until I got halfway through my project and now it is super choppy and the video doesn't line up with the audio in playback in the monitor.  My computer specs are above.  I contacted support and they told me the top of the line Macbook Pro I bought in 2018 isn't strong enough for the software.  This seems ridiculous.  Any feedback on what the issue might be?  Im pretty frustrated and have tried a few of the solves I find online (Clearing Cache, 1/2 resolution, rendering the clip, etc).  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
