Premiere Pro 2022 buggy with Tangent Wave 2

Explorer ,
Mar 01, 2022 Mar 01, 2022

Hi, I've updated from 2021(15.4.3) to 2022 (22.2) and now I'm getting frequent crashes (program unresponsive, spinning blue circle).

It appears connected to our Tangent Wave 2 control surface for colour grading.
If I disconnect the Wave 2 control surfave and use the Lumetri Colour panel, it's fine.

When I have the Wave 2 connected, it works for a while then will crash.

I saw a weird bug on one clip where each adjustment on the Wave 2 would create a new Lumetri effect in the effects control panel.

Thank you!

Yes you´re completely right, any question or trouble that i´ve got with the panel these guys do adress it and always helped me.

Also audio have to be in playback, thanks!

Also my English is getting worse somehow, excuse my last post....

If anything I find diffcult to find solutions to this troubles online, I mean, it´s cool that the are always so eager to help, but like you said, it might take some hours. Maybe a quick search on post like this might help me much faster and there are not many.

Anyways thank you!

And now that I have your attention,...heheh,

I there any way to make the audio part work at clip level (I understand that this might be more a premiere pro question than a tanget wave) but I can´t figure it out.

Also,... Any reason for the "bypass lumetri" "hsl (anycolor)" and "remove atributtes" among others, not to work? they seem no to do anything.

Again, thank you guys!

specially to you Neil, since. From some years now, you are in at least half of the solutions I find, I kind´a feel that I know you Hahaha!

Not sure what's going on with the bypass Lumetri for you ... screengrabs posted within your reply box would help a lot.

You might try uninstalling your Tangent software, their Hub ... and reboot, reinstall it. And go into Premiere's preferences and make sure the Control Panel section is showing the Tangent Extended as selected.

Thankyou again, testing and thinking a little, I´ve come to realize that the lumetri panel must be active for the lumetri bypass button to work, I guess that this an API limitation?

Ah, that's an issue where the keyboard short is 'panel aware' ... as are many of Premiere's keyshorts. They only function when "their" panel is in focus. You can see many of them in the Keyboard Shorts dialog that are only functional when X panel is selected.

Other than that, the Global Fx Mute is I think available all the time, so that can be used. It cuts off Lumetri and everything else.

Thanks again Neil for stepping in here and helping with knowlegable answers.

It is indeed possible for Tangent panels to control the PrPro Audio Mixer at Clip rather than Track level. It's another peculiarity of the API - which mirrors the UI. There are only one set of controls for all the audio sliders etc and then there's a "switch" to toggle between control of Clip and Track mixer.

You can find this control in the default maps :
Wave2: the far right button below the displays on Bank 2 of the Audio Mode.
Element: the bottom left button on the Bt panel when in Audio Mode.

Which unit do you have?

I would note, the ability to use the Tangent gear as all-around AWESOME tools is there.

Rotate/size/move any selected screen element, whether image or graphic? Yep.

Audio? Oh Hades yes!

And actually by using the Warp Engine, you can do something you couldn't previously ... as you record mouse steps for "playback" with the Warp, you can do entire sequences  of steps ... essentially, create any type of macro command you want!

Amazing tools ...

I've got the wave2, o haven't look ln the warp engine since I cjange the layout all the time and I think it has to be fixed to be able to find where to click, does it?

Transform effect are awesome, i had my trouble making it work on productions though, still learning!

Their Warp engine is a new thing ... go to the TangentWaveUK website and it's there to be downloaded and used as part of the Hub control.

They have samples of using it to get some types of  controls that you otherwise can't map for Tangent to use ... especially for Resolve, where BlackMagic will not ever allow any 3rd party kit an API for actually fully mapping hardware to Resolve. But then, their entire profit is based on selling hardware, why would they allow that much entry into their loss-leader product?

Understandable if frustrating for us Tangent user that also  work in Resolve. So the panel is vastly more usable on the Color page in Resolve, with Warp mappings, than it was.

Adobe on the other hand give out the full API to hardware makers. So the Tangent stuff can map to most controls natively. Awesome!

However, the panels aren't built to do macros ... so I've got an old Orbweaver gamers button box here for that. Which ... may become ex-used.

Because using the Warp engine, you can map combined mouse movements and keyboard short commands ... entire series of them! ... so that means that actually creating macros for a Tangent panel in Premiere is now a real easy thing to do.
