Premiere Pro 2024 hangs on "Connecting to Dynamic Link server" message when attempting to relink AEP

(Mac) I have a Premiere Pro project that was done a year or so ago, and it had an AEP file (AfterEffects) linked for several parts of the compositions.

Since reopening it in the newest version, the link between Premiere and the AEP file has been broken. Attempting to relink it results in the "Connecting to Dynamic Link server" message hanging. I can cancel it when this happens, but can never complete the process of relinking it.

I've updated the AEP file to use the current version of AfterEffects, it still happens. I've given Premiere Pro and AfterEffects full disk access, and it still happens. Restarted my computer, still happens. You get the idea.

Is there any way to fix this?

Instead of linking, export from AE and then replace the linked clip with the exported clip.

The AEP file has multiple clips, and I'd have to go through and extensively edit the Premiere file to do that, essentially recreating it. Not an ideal solution.
