Premiere Pro 22 not playing Fuji xT4 Video.

Nov 15, 2021 Nov 15, 2021

Premiere Pro 22 not playing Fuji xT4 Video. Up until the Premiere update a couple of weeks ago, it was 100% fine. Now I can open the video, but it plays for 1 second, then freezes and hangs and pretty much crashes Premiere. Other camera's videos are playing fine.

Sorry for this problem. We have fixed this in the latest beta builds and this is also on track to be available in normal builds. We will update you soon.

Meanwhile, you can download the latest Premiere Pro Beta build from Creative Cloud --> Beta apps --> Premiere Pro (Beta).

Video plays fine if I shoot at MP4/H.264 AAC, but If I shoot at MOV/H.265 (HEVC) LPCM it freezes Premier Pro.

Also I'm using Windows 10

Whatever, before the Premeire update a couple of weeks ago, it was rock solid with all video formats.

I reinstalled Premier Pro 15. That works fine. Premier Pro 22 won't play MOV/H.265 (HEVC) LPCM

In the same boat, M1 Max with 10cores and 64gb ram. Literally the only reason I went with this laptop was for fast video editing, but premiere pro won't play H.265/HEVC from xt4 in the source monitor or the sequence.

I really don't want to have to convert all my clips to prores just to edit video.

Same issue with my Fuji X-T4 H.265 videos on Windows 10 machine. I just updated to V22.1.1 which does not help.
Graphic driver (NVIDIA GFORCE 970) is up to date.
Either Premiere crashes right after importing a clip or reports frame problems first and crashes after a while.
With version 15.4.1, everything worked fine. Very disappointing!

Just try with 22.1.2 at M1 and is also not working. Going back to 15.4.1

Is a bit disappointing how a company as Adobe can fix this fast.

This make me change to Davinci Resolve Studio for editing video.

Hi Paulop,

Sorry about that. Try the 22.1.2 update, but do so after you have deleted media cache. To do so, first choose File > Close All Projects. Then Preferences > Media Cache. Choose to delete all media cache. Restart your computer and let us know what happens regarding performance.

Have wonderful holiday season and a nice New Year.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

I try it with no successe. Not even at 1/8, but DJI Mavic Air 2 h.265 files play just fine. So I think it's something related with fuji files, that doesn't happen in 15.4.1.

So a few posts belown I have posted a link for a fuji file, if someone in adobe could take a look it would be great.

I wish you also a great holiday season and a nice New Year.

Paulo

Hi Jan Niclas,

Sorry about this. Please check the limits of your GPU regarding hardware encoding: https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-and-decode-gpu-support-matrix-new Please also check our system requirements.

I do not think your GPU supports the footage you are working with very well with hardware decoding. Consider upgrading your GPU for full support of this codec which seems to be shy of full support at first glance.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin

Don't think thats the issue, I have a M1 Mac, the 15.4.1 version plays just fine Fuji XT4 h.265 10bit, even Premier Rush do it with no issues, also the first beta versions of M1

It's something messed in the versions 22 and e Fuji XT4 h.265 10bit.

Hi Paulop,

Thanks for sharing the file. Very kind of you! I tested out the clip and you are, indeed, correct. The file plays back fine in v.15.4 but not so well in v.22.1.2. Please upvote this bug: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro/suggestions/44397174-pp-22-0-bogs-down-...

I didn't have any luck with playing this file back with the current version of Rush either.

I will report this bug to the product team. I also upvoted.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi,

I have kind of the same problem. My Fuji xt4 files won't run on premiere. I don't have any problems with other files, just the xt4 ones. I already deleted media caché, uninstalled and reinstalled premiere but the problem persists, is there a solution to his bug yet?

No solution, I habe been in call with adobe support two times and explain it, they asked to upload a xt4 video file to adobe cloud in ordet to them to test it, but I can't do it because adobe cloud doesn't suporte that kind of files.

So it's very dispointing that adobe doesn't fix this, it should be easy since version 15.4.1 and Adobe Rush can handle Fuji h.265 files like a breeze. This make me to stop editing in premier, I'm using now davinci resolve studio.

Sorry for the frustration. I checked out your file in the current Beta version on the M1 and the performance is very good. That's a good sign that your issue will be fixed in an upcoming release. Hope that provides you with some relief.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Version 22.2 didn't fix it, at first it looked ok, but when I add a second clip it freezes. I openned a new project and freezes with the first now. Sorry but this is not a great support from adobe. Fuji X-T4 is not incomum camera.

I'm going to try the beta.

Beta is ok! With a bit of a UI referesh, well needed...

I have to be honest but adobe has to step up, I've been using FCPX and Davinci Resolve Studio (more this last one), and as they say in portugal adobe is sleeping in the shade of the banana tree.

I'm a multimedia teacher and I've always used premier, but right now it's not the best for many reasons.

Hi Paul.

Glad that Beta is working better for you. I don't use either NLE you mentioned so I really can't engage in OT banter with you about this.  Sorry. If you want to talk about other editing platforms, we have the Video Lounge forum where you are free to post OT discussions like that. We could also talk about Portugal in the lounge. I'd love to do that. I want to visit there someday.

BTW, I am not on the Premiere Pro team either, so if you wish to give feedback, you can do so on the User Voice: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro

A reminder that these Adobe forums are chiefly user-to-user forums with not much participation from the Premiere Pro team.

Thanks,
Kevin

I was so glad & sad to see this thread. I'm having the same exact issue with 22.1.2 version.  Everything seemed to be fine up until one of the latest updates. Nothing had changed except updating Premiere, hoping this gets fixed ASAP!

Videos playback perfectly in other apps, FYI.

Phil,

Sorry. Is this the 4:2:0 variant or 4:2:2 variant of the 10-bit file? Let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin
