Premiere Pro 24.4.1 keeps crashing

Explorer ,
May 28, 2024 May 28, 2024

Ever since updating to the newest version of Premiere Pro (24.4.1), it continuously crashes. It happens when I try to do pretty much anything on any project.

I tried:

- deleting media cache folder

- deleting and reinstalling entire application

- reverting to previous version of Premiere

- creating a new project and importing existing project into it

Nothing works! I use this for my job and need it to be fixed ASAP so I can actually do my work.

Here's what I'm running it on:
Processor AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X 24-Core Processor 3.79 GHz
Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.9 GB usable)
Device ID 60128F8A-2A6F-41D3-B09D-9C693AD67935
Product ID 00330-71290-00002-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 23H2
Installed on ‎2022-‎09-‎21
OS build 22631.3593
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1003.0

I just did a live chat with Adobe Support and the only solution they ended up finding was to revert to version 24.0. They said they'll pass along the error and information to their engineering department and have it fixed for 24.4.2 (the next update).

@pifl19895763 If you open Creative Cloud, then go to your Apps, select the ellipsis (three dots) beside Premire Pro, select "Other Versions," and then select 24.0 and install. It should just confirm that doing this will remove the current version. You then just have to make sure you don't accidentally update your app before 24.4.2 comes out, which I'm told should have the fix as part of that release.

Hi Josh,

You say 'pretty much anything'; can you make a new empty project in PPro, without crashing?

I'm able to create new projects, open existing projects, but as soon as I start doing any edits within the timeline, be it linking/unlinking media, deleting clips, applying effects - the entire program shuts down. Every. Single. Time. It's super frustrating!

Hi

Did you ever get a solution for the continual crashing, as I continue to crash after only opening the project in some case or only working for a few seconds?

Hello. I have similar problem. Since last update, my Adobe Premiere still crashing too. I tried everything, like Josh wrote also. And use Premier Pro to work also.

Make new project doesn' t help, because programme shuts when I start editting. Is there any chance for newer update (older versions are not running anymore)?

Update: I downloaded the Adobe Creative Cloud Diagnostics tool (https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/premiere-pro/kb/fix-premiere-pro-crash-issues.html) and it came up with one suggestion: Reset app preferences, as it could be causing app crashes. The diagnostic tool did it for me and so far so good! I'm hopeful that was the fix I needed.

Experiencing the same, using MXF files in Windows 11.  I tried the diagnostic tool, and it just had the one suggestion about resetting app preferences.  I did it, but it has not had an effect.  As soon as I reopened Premiere, it crashed within 20 seconds.

Same for me. Editing MXF in Windows 11. Crashes without an error message. Just disappears. May have to revert to 24.0

I'm still experiencing crashes, however, they're far less frequent, so I'm just saving my work repeatedly. It sounds like this is a bug that still needs fixing . . .

Seems to be an issue with some machines on 24.4.0 & .1. Adobe needs to fix ASAP! It seems to be specific to MXF.

We went back to 2023. Since we have shared device licensing I made a new package, uninstalled everything and reinstalled 2023. Hard to stop it from auto updating. Then used an online tool to allow 2024 projects to open in 23.

Same problem here.  When I tried to go back to older versions, it wasn't crashing as much but I had too many errors to be able to export.   I can understand that a new update could have issues but I have no clue why older versions are no longer working.

I just installed the latest Beta.... so far, so good. It works with our Canon C70 MXF files, Mavic 3Pro cine files, etc.
