Premiere Pro and othe Adobe Apps crash on startup splash screen

Whenever I open Adobe Premiere, Adobe Media Encoder or Adobe After Effects the programs won't open and instead just hang on the startup splash screen and immediately stop responding. Adobe Illustrator will open but freezes and crashes as soon as it opens.

I had a similar problem last year. I contacted an Adobe support technician who tried helping me by going through my PC for over 5 hours and trying everything from resetting all preferences and settings, reinstalling all Adobe Apps, deleting all Adobe Products and settings off the system and reinstalling them etc. At the end of it they told me my user profile on my computer had been corrupted somehow and that was the reason for the Adobe apps not working.

I switched to a new user profile back then and Adobe apps worked perfectly again but the problem was, as this was a new user account, I not only had to set up all my Adobe settings and workspaces again but also everything from my desktop and shortcuts and browser settings etc. It ended up taking weeks to set everything up again so I'm reluctant to create a new user profile to fix the problem this time since I need these programs and their current settings for my work.

I've confirmed that switching to a new user account in this case solves the problem, though I haven't tried any other steps yet. Are there any other fixes I can try (preferably that doesn't involve resetting plugins/preferences since I spent a long time setting those up) to solve this issue on my main account?

Thank you!

Sorry to hear. Downgrading didn't work for me, ended up having to make a new user account which fixed the issue. A hassle but at least it's sorted for me for now.

This has been happening to me as well. I can fix it by downgrading to 24 but not happy about it

Hey, sorry for this issue! If the user profile is corrupted, that tells us it's an issue related to permissions settings. This might be too simple, but does right-clicking Premiere to select 'Run as Administrator' solve it on your original user profile?

I also found this article on copying data over from one user profile to another: https://adobe.ly/4pBSbRb

Glad you found a workaround! Just wanted to throw my two cents in.

Caroline
