My iMac did an auto-update and now premiere won't open. It crashes on startup. Any idea on how I can fix this?

Do you get a crash log that come that asks you to submit crash reports to Adobe?  Please make sure to add you name and email to that crash report for us to follow up with you if needed. Crash logs like that helps us determine what is causing this issue.

Worked with an adobe specialist over phone and gave them access to my computer. All they had to do was correct a systems file buried in adobe folder.

Our iMac did the same thing...not after the OS update, but the Premiere update after the OS update - at that time, the previous rev of Premiere worked fine. I tried re-installing. NG. Now on hold for Adobe Tech Support for an hour and four minutes. Nice.

HI Dutch,

Here are steps one user posted that seem to help others too.  Try this.

If it doesn't solve this issue, we have other solution that should solve it, but this is less disruptive solution if it works.

Okay, here are the exact steps I took (on a Mac):

Install the latest version of Premiere

In your Finder, go up to the Go menu

Click "Go To Folder"

Type "~/Library" and click Go.

Go to ...Library/Caches/Adobe/Premiere Pro/12.0

Delete the "Typesupport" folder

Open up Premiere Pro

I tried this and did not work on Mac.

Anyway you could show what the specialist did?

This worked perfectly for us on our iMac running the current OS 10.13.4.

Prior to our throwing out this folder, our Premiere boot screen-small

Premiere screen centered on our monitor - would open on our screen

normally, then die within a couple of seconds.

Hi Dutch,

I'm glad it worked for you.  We are narrowing down this issue.

HI John,

You may have a different issue.
Someone will contact you to see if we can figure out what is different in your system. The above introductions should have fixed this issue.

What version of PPro are you running?  This this start with new 12.1 version that was released 3 days ago or did it start before that with older version of PPro?

Actually, I was a little hasty in my response.

I was able to open PP 12.1, after deleting the Typesupport folder.

I updated because a project that I had started in 12.0 had suddenly turned glitchy in the preview window after looking fine for a while.

Now I can start 12.1, but the project I started in 12.0 is unusable.

I'll start a new project tomorrow with 12.1and let you know the results.
