I am having issues with Premiere Pro 2022 outputting video through my Black Magic Ultra Studio. I am on a new MacStudio running Montery OS. My BMD software and firmware are up to date and the I/O works fine with AVID and Resolve. Audio does come out through the device just not picture.
After several hours, 3 to be exact,on the phone with Adobe it was the BMD support person who solved the problem. Premiere needs to be installed first and then BMD software second or it won't see the Application and install the appropriate drivers. I would have though Adobe would know about this.
If you don't see "Blackmagic Playback" in that list, BMD's drivers are not successfully installed.

I got mine working. The sequence must match the BMUS output - Framerate and size (1920x1080 for me).

Yes, that is the only way I've been able to get it to work - to have the sequence match (exactly) the output the BMD is doing. In Resolve, you have a sequence setting and a display option so you can view your sequence scaled on the output.

This is the trick! Thanks!

I know, it's been a while but I can't find a real solution for this? I do have the exact same thing today with a MacStudio M3Ultra with newest Premiere (25.1.1) and BMD 14.5 running, found those new ridiculous hidden switches in the security page and my UltraStudio Monitor 3G works fine in Resolve but in Premiere, it's only recognisable as an output device and in the list of possible video outputs are only my two Displays and AdobeSRT. So as it doesn't even appears in that list, the timeline size isn't the problem...
any solutions in that? Thank u

This, from above, solved the issue for other users: "Premiere needs to be installed first and then BMD software second or it won't see the Application and install the appropriate drivers."
From your description, it sounds like you don't have BMD's Transmit plugin for PPro installed.

Oh, that sounds interesting... thank u very much, will search for that plug-in later... or will it be re-installed, when doing it in the right order? Because I tried to re-install BMD several times, even with going back to 12.something...

Yeah, I'm having this exact same issue as well. Mac Studio M3, Premiere was installed first, then BMD software, General and extension switches toggled, running the latest Premiere, and BMD software. Still no option for Blackmagic in the video output panel in Premiere. Were you able to figure this out?

The behavior you've described is 100% consistent with BMD drivers being installed at the OS level, but the BMD Transmit plugin being absent from PPro's plugins directory.

I solved this problem by making sure the Premiere Project setting match exactly with what the Blackmagic card is displaying. If the project doesn't match exactly the Transmit funtion does not appear.

I know of that issue, that's been an issue with these for years. The issue here is that Blackmagic Design doesn't even show up as a selectible option under Playback in the Settings window, even with Mecury Transmit enabled.

Yes, I have found that if the settings do not match perfectly the BMD Playback does not show up as an option when Mercury Transmit is enabled.

If there's no Blackmagic option in this list, the BMD Transmit plugin is not installed.

That makes sense, but how do you force the BMD install software to install that when installing Desktop Video?

I haven't been able to prevent the installer from installing the plugin. 🙂
Do you see any DeckLink plugins, in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore?
[Note: That's the root /Library, not some User's ~/Library...]

I have had this exact issue with BM 14.5 with prem on the mac studio. And found a workaround. The post above shows the 3x files (decklink transit, device, record) that should be in the mediacore folder. Go and copy them from the blackmagic folder from the application support/blackmagic design then for me was a decklink folder then a CS7 folder. In there listed you'll find the three files. Copy them over and in prem you'll see the BM under playback
