Premiere pro lags when using external display (slow) - M1 MAX MBP

Hello,

I use Premiere Pro on my MBP 16" M1 MAX, and I like to edit on my secondary display, an LG 4K, using a USBC -> HDMI cable. For the past few days, I've noticed that, when I use PP on my external display, everything lags. Even clicking on a menu button takes 5 seconds to appear. It's not a preview problem, but more a general slowness.

When I drag/drop back my main PP window to my built-in display, everything's becoming normal after few seconds...

Do you know where this problem can come from?

Thank you!

I am having this exact same issue and I have the BenQ sw320 with 16" M1 Max 64gb RAM.

i noticed turning it into the main screen and making sure my screen refresh rate is at 60hz helps but still having the below issues.

If I unplug the monitor, premiere is suddenly extremely responsive and back to normal except scrubbing through footage, the video doesn't scrub with the play head anymore. Even if I restart the computer entirely and open up Premiere without a monitor attached, scrubbing through footage doesn't work properly anymore. The screen will only update clicking in different locations, not dragging the slider. Plugging the monitor back in it goes back to being laggy. I was on Big Sur and updated to Ventura last night with no change in performance.

Extremely frustrating.

I'm having the same problem. When using PP on a secondary monitor, the interface becomes extremely laggy. This doesn't happen on the main monitor. It doesn't matter if the secondary monitor is on or off. I have two different secondary monitors from different companies and the lag happens on both. I have an Intel Mac (iMac Pro) so it's not only with M1.

This happens with various codecs and even with 720p proxies. It doesn't seem to be footage dependant. The playback is fine. It's clicking through the Timeline that gets super sluggish.

It's only in Premiere. Other applications work normally on all screens.

Specs in the attachments. Using PP 23.1.0

Thanks for your help.
