Hey, won't tell my name, you can call me by my social nickname, Xtrm_Proxar. I'm here because I'm facing an issue and I want it fixed soon, because I have a project to complete and I need Premiere Pro. My issue is that when I open Premiere Pro, everything's fine, I can hover over tools, select and use tools and switch to other workspaces but when I enter the "Effects" Workspace everything glitches out and the screen will be frozen and some small things will only be working. If I hover over tools I won't see the tool name or hotkey but if I select a tool and click something in the menu (the very top bar that contains File, Edit, etc...) the screen will update just for that moment, I made a small video so you can see what exactly is happening and help me fix it easily and will be easier for y'all to help me. Note: there are a lot of fast forwards to make the video more shorter so it won't waste you time, the video's 1-2 minutes. Also, its through link because the files too big and I can't attach it. I really want to work in the "Effects" Workspace so please help me out, thank you so much!

Thank you so much,

Me myself, by experimenting, have found a way to fix this glitch and use the "Effects" Workspace or a different workspace you're having the glitch with. First go into the workspace you get the glitch in, mine's "Effects" workspace. Then import any media and add it to the sequence and your problem will be fixed. But, if you already have media imported and a sequence made and edited, just add new media and add it to the sequence, any new media even if you don't need it in your project and . After

More troubleshooting
Reset workspaces: Go to Window : Workspace : Reset to Saved Layout.
Make sure Default Input in the Audio Hardware in the Preferences is set to No Input.
Make sure you have the latest Nvidia STUDIO driver installed, not the Game driver.
Make new project and import old one.

Before I made this post I tried restting preferences and resetting to saved layout but I tried again, did not work, in addition, I don't have studio drivers and its not just for one project its for the whole pemiere pro. Your advice didn't work, thanks though.

does your system meet minimum specs
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html
and please tell us your system specs: OS version, Premiere version, amount of RAM, Hardware specs including graphics card.
Are the drivers for your graphics card up to date? Oops, see Ann already suggested that. Her advice is generally spot-on.
Are you using multiple monitors? People have reported issues with this, but not in the last few versions of the software, so try keeping all your panels on your main monitor and see if that solves the problem.
Please approach your troubleshooting in a systematic fashion and answer all the questions and attempt all the suggestions and let us know if anything helps. If not, we can start digging in to more stuff.

Specs:
Microsoft Windows Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.985)
Windows 10
Premiere Pro 2021 Version 15.0.0 (Build 41)
4 GB RAM
64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 710
My GPU is up-to-date, I don't have studio drivers for my GPU. No, I don't use multiple monitors, I am not high budget, I am real low budget and am trying to work with what I have, I can't upgrade because I am 13 and obviously don't earn and I don't get any pocket money. Thus, all my panels are in one monitor because I only have one. Nothing has worked, so I think y'all should keep digging into more stuff. Thank you for all your support, it means a lot to me, Love y'all!

I don't see your graphics card on the premiere minimum requirements
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html
You should consider working in an earlier version of Premiere. I think at this point the earliest you can officially download is CC2020. Just go to creative cloud app and clikc on the 3 dots to the far right of Premiere.

Dude, PROPS TO YOU! 13 and in here mixing it up with old jamokes like us!
Keep on cutting, and if you have any questions that don't involve Windoze (Mac guy here), please reach out.

yeah, you're asking good questions and hopefully learning from the experience. When I was your age, I was splicing 8mm film, but that was when the dinosaurs still walked the earth. And although I have much greater expertise on the mac side, I've also been working on a windows machine for the last year... I don't recommend switching between platforms on a daily basis, but it is possible... so any problems, post away. If you have questions beyond what we've explored here, I'd suggest you start another thread...

Haha, dinosaurs 🤣🤣. Thank you so much though, it means a lot

Thank you means a lot, to be honest I just started 13 and since 11 I was using a trash app and was really bad but when I was 12 and a half I switched to sony vegas and was really good and now I'm thinking of moving to premiere pro, but my pc has the problem.

But why is it specifically the "Effects" workspace only? Like the others are fine but in the "Effects" Workspace, I get the glitch, there could be another reason maybe?

I have no idea, but no reason why you can't start from scratch creating a new workspace or modifying an existing one and then saving as a new workspace. Might solve the problem. Took me a few months to get a handle on how to maneuver the panels do different "drop-zones" but worth the effort to figure it out.

Hmm... Yea, I'll give it a try, then can I delete or remove the original effects workspace from the workspace bar and add my new one, which I will make?

By the way, could you please send a screenshot of the editing workspace because I can't find it on google. Thank you so much!

so customize any of the workspaces and then you can save as new workspace. Doesn't look like you can save the changes you've made to the default preset workspaces but shouldn't be a big deal, you can go to the window menu: workspaces: edit workspaces and move your customized workspaces up towards the top of the list so it'll display in the order you desire

Thank you so much! Now you can make a new comment in this thread saying check if you meet requirements, if not re-create the workspace or use another workspace or upgrade your specs, my writing sucks, you write the professional way and I'll make it correct answer. Again, thank you so much it means a lot to me, this is the best support I've ever got, Y'all the best!

Put your project and assets in a dedicated AV folder and not Downloads

Hey Ann, why would that make a difference? Not saying it can't, just wondering why. Of course, my OCD makes keeping files in the download folder an unattractive option, but since I've got my webbrowser set to ask me where to download to, I usually point it directly to my folder for the specific projects media...
thanks

Why though? It won't make a difference, right? *Just asking

It's ALWAYS best practice to put your media files on a separate editing drive. Keeping things in the "downloads" folder, and editing directly from those files, is sloppy.

but don't think it will have an impact on performance beyond the issue of having your media on your boot drive (which on a modern computer doesn't usually make a noticeable difference that I can tell). BUT, it does become a big deal if you're bringing your media to another workstation and you're missing media because somethings are on your startup drive rather than your media drive. With my clients this happens all the time, but the material is usually not in the downloads folder, but on their desktop. Makes me crazy.

Really?
Have your boot drive crash, taking your only copy of your media with it, just before deadline.
ALWAYS have two copies of media.
And as I understand it, software calls are short-duration small block operations, and media calls are long-duration large block ops. Why tie up memory pathways for the program with media calls that should come from some other bus?

having back up of your media is another issue entirely and the fact is that multiple backups are crucial (honestly I don't think 1 backup is enough). And don't mean to argue with you, just saying that I understand there are technical reasons NOT to have media on your boot drive, but in terms of a perceived impact on performance, I don't see it.. I sometimes work with media on my startup drive that is backed up on an external drive particularly if I need to stream or upload the files. For example, I have a SSD for my boot drive on both my windows machine and my ancient macbookpro. Most of my media drives are inexpensive usb3 bus powered drives. The drive read speeds are better from the internal ssd than from the external usb3 drives... In a perfect world, I'd have expensive thunderbolt media drives but unfortunately most of clients budgets don't allow for that.

Fair enough. For me, it manifests itself generally as "wonky" performance.
I always say today's computers are complex enough that somewhere deep inside, they're manifesting "feelings"...and some days, they just don't want to put up with the hoop jumping we force them to perform.
One of those "hoop jumps" is mixing app software and projects (small) on the same storage medium as media (large). I can't say that doing that results in bad performance immediately. It's just that over time things begin to work poorly, or something that was working doesn't.
I find that to head off any head-scratching problems, sticking to the paradigm of segregating media files and program files works for me.

Me myself, by experimenting, have found a way to fix this glitch and use the "Effects" Workspace or a different workspace you're having the glitch with. First go into the workspace you get the glitch in, mine's "Effects" workspace. Then import any media, and your problem will be fixed. But, if you already have media imported and a sequence made and edited, just add new media, any new media even if you don't need it in your project. After that, your glitch will be fixed and you can delete the file you imported if you don't need it. Finally, your glitch will be solved and you can enjoy. If you ever get the glitch again, just import media and delete it if you don't need or you can leave it if you need and your glitch will be solved. Have a great day!
