Hi all
After a little research it seems that this may be out of my realm, but I want to try it anyway.
I want to create a custom transition that can be used in premiere. I want to use the native 'film dissolve' with a key framed Gaussian blur, to fade and blur between both clips. This takes way to long manually and is a pain in the butt.
Is there a way of doing this to create 1 drag and drop transition, as obviously a blur and fade/dissolve won't ever be in the same drop down and you cant apply two transitions to a cut (obviously)
Any ideas?
Thanks!

You can make the keyframed blur into a preset and drop that on an adjustment layer.

Hi Ann, thanks for the reply
I understand that, but I'd like a solution where I can mix the two together?
I am presuming by your response that there isn't...
Thank you ![]()

You can't save transition presets, but the goal is still achievable. Just add the Blur to the Fade presets below.

Hey Jim, really appreciate your reply
That seems ideal, I've downloaded the zip, unzipped and right click and imported the 'film fades' prfpset file. It's not coming into premiere or at least I can't find it on twirl downs or by text search... I'm using CC. Have also closed and re opened.
Any ideas?

They should show up in the Presets>Fades folder.

Yeah it's definitely not coming in ![]()
No idea how to bring it in! When I press open on the import preset window it's as if nothing happens and it loads nothing, which it is doing as my preset doesn't come in... so close to the solution as well ![]()

Hi,
this was the solution for me. http://www.filmimpact.net/
The Transition Pack 1 includes a disolve blur transition, for only 40$.
Hope that helps

Great, Thanks Ann and Jim for your help. I've brought them in but it worked by double clicking the file strangely enough!
Adding the blur to these transitions does work but not for the kind of cross dissolving effect I wanted between two clips, as it can only be applied to one clip at a time and then 'rejigged' to fit. (Unless there is a better way of doing it that I don't know about!)
So for now I'm going to go with the regular film fade between two clips and the blur on the adjustment layer, I might try saving this out separately...
Thanks jojejo for your link, this probably would suit me but for now what I've made does work and have spent my own time trying it out and don't want to have wasted that time! If I find I have to use this a lot I might go in for buying that.
Thanks everyone ![]()
