Hey,
I'm quite new to Adobe and I wanted to use a dynamic link today. I applied advanced speed ramping to a dynamically linked clip in After Effects and then when I came back to Premiere pro to colour correct it, I realised that the colours are just not right.
The highlights in the original clip offer much more flexibility and I could recover some data from the over exposed area. But the clip, which I used as a dynamic link and added "effects" to in AE, has lost its dynamic range and is not as flexible as the original.
Have you got a solution to this issue?
Here's a screenshot (For some reason I couldn't insert an image directly, so hope you don't mind a link instead): Imgur: The magic of the Internet

You should be able to drag/drop a screengrab onto your reply.
What are the color management settings in Ae? Premiere is stock Rec.709 and Ae needs to be the same. Also deselect "linear color" in Ae.

Unfortunately, this didn't solve the problem. I went into the colour settings and changed the workspace to rec. 709 but nothing has changed. That's super strange.

Did you deselect linear color?

This is how I set it.

Did yo try a 10 bit Rec.709?

Hi Neil,
I have a similar issue.
My file is a 4k 10bit file. It has absolutely no banding in Premiere.
But when I take this file into AE through the DL it introduces banding in the original file in Premiere. Even though I didn't do any adjustments to the actual video file in AE. All I did was to add the little hologram on top of the untouched background video file.
It seems like AE is making a 8bit version out of the imported 10bit file.
You can see the banding over her shoulder on the right side.
I've also tried all the recommended steps above. Nothing worked.
Also when I just take the plain 4k 10bit file from PP and add it to AE via DL it changes the image in PP and introduces banding.
I am so lost.

That sounds like you need to sort out your color management settings in Ae ...

I solved it.
in AE:
-32bit
-rec709 Gamma 2.4
-color management settings on: USE DISPLAY COLOR MANAGEMENT

Yup, that would be correct, and match what Premiere is designed to do following broadcast-level Rec.709 standards. Glad you got it sorted and are working away!

Opened my saved project from last time. THE SAME PROBLEM!
When I saved it, everything was working fine.
This is what drives me nuts about CC.
With adobe I have 40% actual work and 60% fixing bugs and trouble sourcing.
It is finally time to change. All adobe has left is the huge amount of plugins for after effects.

I did the above rec709 gamma 2.4 but also changed the depth to 32 bit and it seemed to work for me.
