I'm not sure what you mean by primary and secondary tabs here. Those terms have no specific meaning to PP.

thanks, let me try to clarify; when I add sequences to project they show up as tabs along the top of the timeline. If the project is built in one sequence, only one tab shows...I just call that the primary sequence(my name). Sometimes I'll organize larger projects with a few sequences, then paste them into the "primary". What is happening, and I assume this is user error, a sequence tab will disappear, usually the largest(primary)

My first guess is that the sequence has been closed. You can double click on it from the bin to reopen it.

the name of that sequence does not show up in a search... and just lost another tab... is there something very basic here that I'm missing about making all tabs in a project show up...?

The only explanation I can think of for the sequence not showing up in a search is that it has been deleted. This can only be done manually by the editor.

I'm the editor, if I'm somehow deleting segments inadvertently, I'd like to know how I'm doing that...let start at PP 101...
•is there a default bin that pp stores all sequences
•are there workspaces that will not show all sequences in a project
•is the only way to delete a sequence by selecting it in the bin and hitting "delete"key, or someother keystroke I'm unaware of that's making these drop/disapear/deleat.....

when I jump from workspace settings to another, the sequence tabs change; some tabs don't show, some do. the current sequence just now disappeared in all workspace settings. It has not been deleted or closed.

...also, when I type in the search field the title for a sequence who's tab is active, the search comes up with nothing...

Try resetting the preferences:

I re-set prefs, phenomenon persists:
as I click through the workspace options along the top; assembly, editing, color, a different selection of sequence tabs show up along the top of the timeline. Currently, in the “color” workspace, it’s a complete list of sequence tabs for the entire project, sometimes a complete list not available on any workspace selections.

That tells me your system isn't functioning properly. Give this a go:

"•is there a default bin that pp stores all sequences"
Poor housekeeping can result in nightmares for large projects.
"Currently, in the “color” workspace, it’s a complete list of sequence tabs for the entire project"
If you have a workspace that is showing tabs for all the sequences in the timeline window, one-by-one, right-click on the actual tab (showing sequence name) and select Reveal in Project. As each sequence is revealed in the Project window move it to a new bin named "Sequences". Now when you change Workspaces, you can quickly go to that bin and double-click to re-open the sequences you need.
If you're building complex projects, it helps to keep them very organized...

True, but none are prevented from being opened manually.
