Problem with essential graphics panel

Community Beginner ,
Feb 01, 2024 Feb 01, 2024

Hi everyone, I'm having a problem starting Premiere with any project. The "essential graphics" panel blocks the software, if deactivated it works correctly but when I activate it it loads endlessly. Maybe I must have loaded it too much or there must be some template that is driving it crazy. How can I restore it? Unlink all templates to be able to activate normally? The problem is actually opening the screen directly from Premiere which is impossible for me. I await advice, thanks.

Hey @Giacomo35178176h836,

Sorry you're running into issues. If I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like having the Essential Graphics panel open is causing a large slowdown to Premiere Pro.

I have some questions to try and get you back on track, can you tell me:

  • Premiere Pro version number
  • Operating system and version number
  • Where are your mogrts located? (Local Templates Folder, additional folders on your computer, cloud location, and/or libraries)
    • If you are using libraries, how many? What's the estimated amount of mogrts in your libraries?
  • If your mogrts are located in the local templates folder, can you try temporarily removing them and see if the issue resolves
    • (win)  ://Users/username/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Common/Motion Graphics Templates/

      (mac) username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Motion Graphic

Can you share a video of what's happening?

Cheers,

Theresa

Hi, I use the software from the M1 pro 16gb mac. I located the Essential Graphics folder and removed all contents. I also moved what may have been the external .mogrt files. But nothing to do. Every time I open the panel it loads continuously. For now I'm using the Premiere Beta version which doesn't give me this problem. But I would like to understand how to solve it on the classic Premiere Pro 2024 version. Both are updated. What can I do?

To be able to try and replicate this issue on my computer so I can help, I need to know the exact build of Premiere Pro you're using and some of the following questions:

  • When Premiere Pro is open, click on the Premiere Pro menu at the top left and select About Premiere Pro. In the pop up window that opens, you'll see Premiere Pro version and build number at the top. Please tell me what your version and build says.

  • Are you using libraries?
  • Do you use 3rd party plugins? Can you disable them and see if that helps?
  • Can you send screenshots and/or a video? Being able to see the problem will help me understand it better.

Thanks,

Theresa

My version is 24.1.0 (build85). The problem occurs even if I open a new and clean project, I cannot open the Essential Graphics window in any case. Operating system Mac OS Sonoma version 14.2.1. I don't think I have libraries in use or use external plugins? How can I check if they are connected to Premiere and possibly deactivate them?

Thanks for that info.

You can check if you're using any libraries, go to Window -> Libraries and see if there is a list populated in there.

You can check if you're using 3rd Party Effects by going to the Effects panel and selecting the 3 lines/hamburger menu and selecting "Manage Video Effects."

You can check if you're using 3rd party extensions by going to Window -> Extensions. (Mine is greyed out because I'm not using any.)

Let me know if any of these are being used, and we'll take it from there! Thanks for your patience!

I don't have any Video Effects. Among the extensions I have "AEJuice Pack Manager 4", I tried to delete it from the various folders on the Mac but it still remains visible within Premiere.

Hmm okay. Follow steps here to uninstall: https://aejuice.com/support/technical-issues/how-to-uninstall-aejuice-pack-manager/

Restart Premiere Pro. See if the Essential Graphics panel is still giving you trouble.

Close Premiere Pro. Hold Shift as you click on the icon. The reset options dialog will appear, select "Clear media cache files, reset plugin loading cache, disable third party plugins."

If that doesn't work try resetting Workspaces:

  • Go to Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout

If that doesn't work, reset your prefs. Close Premiere Pro. Hold Shift as you click on the icon. The reset options dialog will appear, select "Reset app preferences"

Nothing. It didn't work out in any of those ways. But what if I had to uninstall and reinstall Premiere? Could it solve it? Would it make any changes to my projets?

😿

Installing and reinstalling shouldn't affect your projects, sometimes it can resolve issues, so it can't hurt to try.

You can uninstall/reinstall 24.1 or you could try rolling back to 24.0 if you want to do a final test.
In Creative Cloud app, click the three dots to select "Other versions."

Since the beta is working for you, that tells me that you should not have issues when Premiere 24.2 arrives. You can continue to use the beta and update when it rolls out.

@Giacomo35178176h836,

I was chatting with a colleague about this, and it could be the temp mogrt previews. Close Premiere Pro. To delete those, go to

/var/folders/9x/<>/T/ProBrowser

(The <> is a folder with a very long random string, but it should be the only folder in there)  Delete all of the thumbnails in the folder, then launch Premiere Pro. The folder should repopulate and hopefully this fixes the issue. Let me know!
