Problems with Motion Graphics / Rendering

Community Beginner ,
May 15, 2019 May 15, 2019

Hi

I'm having problems with rendering on Premiere Pro. It will not even render something as simple as a Cross-Dissolve.

Problem only began a day ago.

The error report comes up as:

Render Error

Render returned error.

Writing with exporter: MPEG Preview

Writing to file: \\?\C:Users\welsh\OneDrive\Desktop\Sam Hill Art\Adobe

Premiere Pro Video Previews\Sam Hills Art 3.PRV\Rendered-3757430d-9454-4909-81c9-3a39d0d43af1.mpeg

Writing file type: MPEG

Around timecode: 00:00:30:24

Rendering at offset: 15.240 seconds

Component: MPEG Preview of type of Exporter

Selector: 9

Error code: -1610153856

Would appreciate help as this is delaying a time sensitive project.

Thanks.

It's giving you a specific time code to check. So ... what's happening at that point? Perhaps you need to remove & re-apply an effect or something, but check out that point in the sequence.

Thanks.

I have tried removing and re-applying effects. I've also tried rendering a specific effect. These have helped but only once.

When it reaches the specific poit in the timeline, it stops rendering, the visuals freeze and go black, the audio continues to play.

The other issue before that was that any text and motion graphics overlaying footage would result in just text with the footage being blacked out.

I've adjusted settings, checked opacity on any text effects etc but nothing changed or it didn't respond.

I've also used the files on different PC's, which makes me think its the software or an error on my part.

I'm presuming you can export up until just before that location ok, you can export from just past that to the end of the sequence ok, it's just if that bit is included it all hangs.

I would create another sequence of the same specs, then have that open in a timeline panel above/below in "pancake" mode, and select-all of that timeline, drop onto the other. And see if that shakes it loose.

If not, try copying the clip/s involved to a different folder, deleting the clip from the project, and re-importing from the other folder.

Hi DavidH!

What kind of graphics card do you have? I wonder if there are any updates available for it. The graphics card handles rendering, so that might be where the issue is coming from.

Let us know! We're happy to help.

The SSD is 512 GB.

As for the PS Build - what's a PS Build?

I realise that answer probably reveals a lot more about the problem than any of the PC / Laptop specs.

"Operator Error" may be a big part of the problem!

Hi davidh57628773,

Please try to switch the Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only (FAQ: How to change the Video Renderer in Premiere Pro?) and then check if it's working properly.

Thanks,

Sumeet

Hi David H,

Hope we can assist.

Render returned error.

Don't save your preview files to One Drive, or any other folder on your C drive. Use a secondary dedicated hard drive, like an 2nd internal drive or an external drive with adequate space, fast data rates, and high speed connectivity.

Kevin

Yes, I actually wasn't deliberatley saving my files to OneDrive.

However, uninstalling OneDrive has helped a great deal and seems to have resolved the problem.

Not sure how it happened, probably 'Operater Error' though sometimes certain software does like to 'help out' and do things automatically on your behalf.

Though it was more than likley an unwitting error on my part when I was trying to resolve the initial problem by rebooting my laptop and updating software.

Otherwise, I normally do everything else you suggested. I have a 5TB external Harddrive which I use to store my work on.
