project suddenly lost bit depth?

my project looks different suddenly. its as if theres a loss of bit depth in image,. colour is the same but posterizing, heavy blocking.

pulling my hair out.

I have an adjustment layer with a lumetri fx which has a LUT and a few colour tweaks.

previous copies of project now have same problem.

rendering the project has same problems.

importing a previous render back into project looks normal on timeline

PROBLEM SOLVED

change render option in project management.

While trying to fix another problem i had changed a lot of settings one of which was the render option.

i changed it back to GPU open GL, instant fix. 

i am on mac pro 2013 OS 10,12,6
