Proxy performance with grading

Hi there,

in common, i have no issues with performance with cineform 720p in full resolution. Even on my not so superfast Laptop.

But what i`ve realized is a lagg of performance, when it comes to grading.

To check out the different cineform quality settings (Mb/s) i tried a transcode workflow. So i replaced the original HEVC 4K 400Mbit footage with the cineform 720p with quality 1. I did all the cuts with absolute no framedrops. To my surprise, even with drastic color grading on every clip, i dont get any framedrops.

But, when i replace the original HEVC footage and take the cineform footage as proxys, i get tons of framedrops.

Yes, the proxys are linked right, cause im not able to play HEVC 10bit even with 1/4 resolution.

When i turn off effects globaly, the proxys are playing fin, even on full Resolution.

I tried all the settings in sequence resolution, scaling ... nothing helps me, to get the graded proxys to play that smooth as when i replace the original footage...

Any idea?

You says that there is a format, the transcoded which allow you to work fine anyway?

the format is the same. I just replaced the original 4k 16/9 footage with cineform 720p Instead of proxy workflow.

only problem is that you cant handle the scaling 1:1 as the cineform is 720p and the original footage is 4k.

you have to adjust the sequence settings.

i was very surpriesed, that the heavy graded clips played back without framedrops @ full resolution.

if you says you work great with cineform 720( by the way, how you convert it?) then how can you say that heavy graded clips work good at full resolution?

is it 720 or full?

But working this way yoi cannot use anymore the original full resolution clip thougj, right?

My first thought is to upgrade to Windows 10 and install Premiere Pro 2019 alongside the current install.
